POEA warns against unauthorized emails with ‘unsafe links or attachments’

“Last January, we were deploying only around 15,00 mariners but this doubled in May. We were already deploying almost 30,000 mariners to various destinations,” POEA administrator Bernard Olalia said in a briefing on Friday.

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration is warning the public against unauthorized emails with “unknown/unsafe links or attachments” using the agency's name.

 

"The public is hereby reminded that the POEA Assistance and Welfare Division does not send attachments, forward links, or require electronic transfers," the advisory, signed by POEA Administrator Bernard Olalia, read.

 

POEA said individuals and entities have been posing as the Repatriation Unit, Assistance and Welfare Dvision, POEA Central Office: REPATnAssistance while sending emails to overseas Filipino workers, their relatives, or Licensed Recruitment Agencies.
