There was a happy conclusion to a story about a monk missing in the national park of Khao Phrawihan in Sisaket province, NE Thailand.

Phra Wit, 33, had gone on a pilgrimage into the jungle last Sunday, reported Thai Rath.

Two days later he called his mum Khamplew to say he was lost and then on the 7th that he hadn't eaten at all.

Finally a search party of 40 and more locals, police, military and others was formed.

Someone managed to contact the monk before his battery went dead and advised him to log onto Google maps so that he could get his location.

He was found exhausted some while later.

Very lucky to get a cell phone signal at all, out in the sticks here. We only get one about 1/3 of the time in our village, never mind in the jungle...

Leave home with a ball of string in your pocket.

He might be the 1 person in Thailand that bought a phone, simply to make phone calls.

I guess it's hard to get your bearings, when you can't see the hills, or landmarks due to the pollution.
