Extending 30-day visa exempt to 60 days

How many days before should this be applied for?

 

Does it require a trip to Bangkok to do? Or can I go to my local immigration (Khon Kaen)?

Many folk obtain extension couple of weeks prior to permit expiry.

I've done it 30 days before many times in the past, any more than that, they'll probably tell you to come back another day. You need to do your extensions at the immigration office associated with your TM30 address usually.

Not easy to extend a 30 day visa exempt entry more than 30 days in advance.

Nobody is going to tell you to come back another day if you apply more than 30 days in advance, as at that time you won't even have entered Thailand yet.

I think you are thinking of applying for a long stay extension. It is not the same when applying for a 30 day extension of stay.

About 2 weeks is the most that many office will accept a application for one.

I was talking about my previous experience with 60 day covid extensions and always doing them 30 days in advance. I didn't think it was different for visa exempt extensions, thanks for the correction.

I normally do the 30 day extensions 2 weeks out but one time I actually did it just after arrival at the same time I filed my TM30. Was approved no problem so not sure if lucky or this is fine to do so (saved me a trip to immigration)
