Chiang Mai Immigration Office - Open on the 3rd of May ?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My visa exemption is valid till the 4th of May, I need to go and get a 30 days extension. My question is simple : is the immigration office in Chiang Mai open on the 2nd and 3rd of May ?

Seems like the office is closed on the 4th as it is Coronation day. I'm getting conflicted infos from Google so I want to double check with the experts here.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you. Immigration definitely open on the 2nd of May then (labour day observed) as well as on the 4th (coronation day) ?

Why would it be closed on the 3rd of May and not the others ?

I don't have time to extend it today or tomorrow unfortunately. Not sure what you mean by losing days ?

Thanks again.

Forgot about Labor day being on the 2nd. Closed on the 2nd and 4th.

Best to go tomorrow.

Closed on Labor Day Substitution (Monday, May 2)?

I remember from own experience that government offices/officers do not celebrate/observe labor day.

Not considered laborers.

It's only for banks, post, private businesses...

Searched through a couple of sources (Thai language) where May 2 does not even show up (except BoT).

In contrast: May 13 government only holiday (ploughing ceremony).

Unfortunately the immigration calendar (some MS office thing) is a complete mess, not been updated obviously.

It does appear immigration will be open but about everything else will be. Hard to remember all the oddities for the holidays.

According to CM's immigration website, they are not closed at all next week.

Sorry but that's the calendar that has not been maintained.

Completely useless like so much on the net.

May 4th is definitely a public holiday for all (coronation).

May 13th is a goverment only holiday,

This calendar looks plausible. What a mess.

So...

May 1 - Sunday, CLOSED

May 2 - Labor Day, Maybe closed, maybe not?

May 3 - OPEN?

May 4 - Coronation Day, CLOSED

Anyone managed to get into contact with CM immigration? Called but the line is always busy.

It was CW. Anyway, I rescheduled my appointment after carefully checking the calendar this time.

I checked and still showing availability for the 4th to do a 90 day report. All other show no availability.

Perhaps an error when they added 90 day reporting for CW on April 18th when they started doing them again.

I was told inside an immigration office they will be open tomorrow (Monday).  Luckily my dealings with them is very minor this time, so no stress.  If they are closed, I won't be surprised.  If open, I won't be surprised.  All I know is I plan on making a trip there........  I didn't ask about any other days.

That is correct since immigration does not consider Labor day a holiday for them. Don't plan on a main bank branch to be open or to receive a international transfer tomorrow since it is a bank holiday (same for the 4th).
