Crime Man from Prominent Family Crashes Car into Neighbour’s Fence and Douses Vehicle with Fuel
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A man from a well-known family is facing legal action after allegedly ramming his car into a neighbour’s property before pouring an oily liquid over the vehicle in a dramatic early morning incident in Bangkok. At approximately 05:30 on 31 May, police from Klong Tan Station, under the direction of Pol. Maj. Gen. Witawat Chinnakham, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 5, were dispatched to a private residence in a housing estate in Suan Luang district following reports of a violent disturbance. Upon arrival, officers found damage to the front and side fencing of the property, as well as to a car parked in the driveway. The alleged perpetrator, identified only as Mr. Warat, a resident of the same neighbourhood, was reportedly intoxicated and had driven his BMW sedan directly into his neighbour’s home. Mr. Thananon, the property owner, told police that he and Mr. Warat had a history of personal disputes. “There have been tensions for some time. This morning, while clearly under the influence, he drove straight into my property, damaging my fence and car,” Mr. Thananon stated. In addition to the crash, authorities noted a black oily liquid, believed to be fuel, had been poured across the driveway, including around the damaged vehicle. Disturbingly, a lighter was also found placed on the front windshield of Mr. Warat’s own car, raising concerns about a possible intent to set the scene ablaze. Mr. Warat, who reportedly shares a surname with a former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, was described by officers as aggressive and shouting incoherently when police arrived. He was promptly taken into custody and informed of the charges against him, including property damage. Police confirmed he has been handed over to investigators for further legal proceedings. No injuries were reported, and authorities are continuing to assess the full extent of the damages. Adapted by Asean Now from Khoasod 2025-06-01. -
