Six Month Visa Roundtrip . . . . return ticket 60 or 90 days??????

Featured Replies

I am applying for a 60 day tourist visa and the website indicates with an underline that a roundtrip ticket purchase must be uploaded.  I can do that, but do I assume that I can get the 30 day extension (90 days total) and buy my return ticket 90 days later or am I stuck with buying one 60 days after and then having to change it?  Got me?  Thanks for any comments.  I appreciate it.

Well this issue many of us had before. You don't need round trip ticket, you just need onward ticket. You can supply them one-way ticket to Thailand and then any onward ticket to a different country. General rule is that the onward ticket should be within 60 days because it is not guaranteed that you will get the extension in Thailand. Some embassies accept within 90 days but it is not generally accepted and you would have to check with the embassy first.

There are some sites which can provide you onward ticket which is valid for few days (usually 7 - 10 days) for a small fee. You can try to Google Proof of onwards travel ticket. Be careful some sites only do a ticket reservation and if the embassy will check the ticket it may not pass their check.

I personally don't think any Embassy anywhere would check on that. I also don't think for a 60 day tourist visa you need a return ticket. You can buy a temporary ticket for about $15USD on several web sites if you are that concerned. It was just a few years ago I would go to the Boston Thai consulate and get a hand written multiple entry tourist visa done while I sat and chatted with the consul employee for maybe 10 minutes! Then you had to mail your papers when the METV came out ( after the first year) and they would mail your passport back or you could go to NYC to drop off papers in the morning and pick up your passport with visa the next day. They have no reason to call airlines ( airlines won't give out travel info unless they know your exact booking number and other personal info) They don't call employers and they don't call your bank either.  They really do nothing. It's a dream job as far as I'm concerned.
