MCOT reported on the sale of the Cherchai Tour company run by a well known woman known as Jay Kiaw.

The company has run services to the NE, eastern seaboard, Central region and North for the last 65 years.

But now Jay Kiaw,  Sujinda Cherdchai, 85, has decided to call it a day.

Long haul services had already been stopped and the company was just running trips from Bangkok to Korat and to the east.

Some 200 vehicles have been parked at the company's lot unused over the last 2 years with just 20-30% of vehicles in use.

Jay Kiaw said that many of her customers now had their own transport and were not travelling by bus.

Her four children are in other businesses and there is no one to run the family business that has been decimated by the pandemic and spiralling fuel costs.
