Health Insurance Requirement for Re-entry with existing Non-B Visa

Featured Replies

I have been in Thailand since before the pandemic started. I also recently renewed my visa extension (non-b) work related (March 2022, good until March 2023) and there was no medical insurance requirement for that renewal paperwork (they told me insurance was not needed as I was just extending in-country). I want to travel out of Thailand (this summer) and return with my re-entry permit based on the above non-B, but I need to know if a proof of insurance will be required of me as it seems the typical tourist rules force those entering Thailand to have proof of substantial insurance for the duration of their stay. Secondly, if insurance for my situation is required are there any suggestions for inexpensive solutions? or tactics such as I heard of signing up and then later canceling after a month etc. as I am usually in country for nearly the full year.  Thanks

It is impossible to say what the requirements may be later on.

Were you to enter now, you need a Thailand Pass and top get it would have to show proof of insurance that covers COVID for at least 30 days.

If you are covered under Thai Social Security (as most employees are) that will suffice. You will need a picture of your SS card or a statement from SS that you are enrolled.

Otherwise, the least expensive option that meets current Thailand Pass requirements is this, costs only 650 baht:

No matter how long you plan to stay, 30 day coverage will suffice. So no need or reason to cancel after entry.

On the official Thailand pass website there's a link to insurance options, and on that page it states you need an insurance for the duration of your stay, not 30 daysScreenshot_20220511-094753_Brave.thumb.jpg.d8e8a69832697f98a1e1543f01bcb24f.jpg

It says that, but there have been countless posts on this topic and people have had no difficulty getting TP and entering the country with just 30 day policy.

They have no way of knowing how ling your stay will be.
