14 Year-old Boy, Sexually Abused For Two Years, Escapes In Pattaya

Featured Replies

A young boy, who had been sexually abused by a Thai man for over two years, finally escaped. After the boy ran away, the man found him on the beach and tried to take him captive again. When the young victim tried to run away, again, the man beat him. Finally, police rescued the young boy.

On 17 June 2007, at 1:30AM, Pol.Capt.Suthin Sabphueng and Pol. Lt.Col. Chalermkeit Sirimaak, Pattaya, Chomburi, were patrolling along Jomtien beach. As they passed in front of Jomtien Soi 4, Moo 12, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi, they came upon a Thai man beating up a young boy and restrained the man.

The fourteen year old boy, "Tum" (alias), was beaten and injured. His face was swollen; his left eye was closed and there were many bruises on his body. He said that he was walking along Jomtien Beach, when he ran into Mr. Somphong Sengseng (38), address 284, Moo 2, Klongpang, Rasada, Trang Province, who used to take care of him. Mr. Somphong, who was drunk, scolded and attacked him.

"Tum" said that he previously had stayed with Mr. Somphong for two years. During the two years, he did not go to school. He had to run away because Mr. Somphong forcefully detained him and abused him, sexually. He was afraid to report the abuse to anyone until he decided to escape. He was homeless and was wandering around Pattaya until he ran into Mr. Somphong on Jomtien beach. Mr. Somphong tried to force “Tum” to go back with him, but he refused because he did not want to be sexually abused anymore. Mr. Somphong became angry and beat him up. Police sent "Tum" to Banglamung hospital for a medical examination and proceeded to take legal action against Mr. Somphong.
