In the UK, the police have road tests for drink driving and drug driving.

So, the police/law obviously know smoking dope is doing similar stuff as booze.  

If caught drug driving, the court issues similar punishment as booze, lose your licence...????

People simply don't give a damn about anyone else.......loud music, driving dangerously, smoking in restaurants, getting drunk, disrupting flights...they don't give a flying....

You don’t think more people will partake in smoking / consuming weed now that is legalised (in some form) ?

Yes, many accidents caused by booze and they will continue to be until more is done. 

But that does not mean the consumption of Marijuana will not also contribute to more accidents now that is legalised.

 

This has nothing to do with against or for weed... I think everyone is 'pro-weed’ when its consumed in situations where its unharmful to anyone else. 

I’m pro-anything where the behaviour or consumption has no negative consequences for anyone else. 

 

I am very very anti-anything which impacts peoples ability to operated a vehicle safely...  and that goes as far as being against anyone who would drive a vehicle with a horrible case of influenza etc...

 

Thus: Yes, the increase in availability of dope will undoubtedly result in accidents because the driver / rider was high...  not as much as DUI perhaps, but to suggest someone is anti-weed because they recognise this is rather flawed and highlights a blinkered, over-defensive and unrealistic outlook.

Yes, we all know the weed puffers pooh, pooh anything negative about their habit, but the link below lists possible effects, many are definitely a no-no for driving, plus takes a lot longer to get rid of those effects, whereas, booze is a lot shorter period...  ????........????

THC traces stay in the blood for quite a while. You can smoke 2 weeks ago and still test positive. I am curious to know how these pee tests work and how infallible they are.

Jesus, where do you get these scaremongering words. Cocaine and maybe Meth but no way marijuana. Really curious what generation you were brought up in. Only people I know who ever were deranged and violent on marijuana were people who were on other medications and forgot to take their prescription drugs.

To be prosecuted in UK for drug driving, it is a blood test to confirm amounts.

You are perhaps describing extreme usage...  the same issues occur with extreme usage of pretty much anything... In excess ‘its all dangerous’....   booze is a perfect example. 

 

But, if we are to compare recreational users... the odd joint on a weekend, the user is not going to experience the issues you describe above, in the same manner someone enjoying wine with dinner is not going to suffer the serious consequences of alcohol abuse. 

 

Additionally, there is a lot of evidence which suggests marijuana (the THC) is medicinal and there are plenty of medical proffesoinals who are advocates. 

 

 

The issue with the debate you [Tropical guy & Pouatchee] have entered is that you are both arguing from the ‘extremes’ and nullifying the balanced middle ground. 

 

i.e. Excessive use is dangerous. Recreational use is harmless, but if people are reckless and careless (i.e. drive while high) there is an impact on society.
