Is There A Lawn Bowls Club

I'm looking for a lawn bowls or indoor bowls club in the Chiangmai area (not to be confused with bowling).

If you don't know of any perhaps you may have suggestions for other relaxing sports or pastimes in the area that would give a person the chance to get away from all the hustle and bustle for a while and give them the opportunity to make some undemanding friendships along the way.

There isn't one...but a CM businessman freind of mine said he would consider starting one if there were enough takers.

However...he would need at least 1 rai of land close to the city...not cheap !

This thread has been running a while now and it would appear there is little interest.

If more people were interested he may consider it.

So if you are really keen and would support such a venture...post........it would be good to see just from a random selection of the CM ex-pat community if there was any kind of interest. He is not a TV member but I can pass on your comments...

It sounds like fun and I think I would be inclined to use such a facility.

It certainly would be a great way to unwind and a new way to meet some decent people.

It would be quite an undertaking to set up a club even though the effort could be rewarding, maintainence of the lawn would need some specialist knowledge, although with the abundance of golf courses it should be possible to find a good greenkeeper.

Perhaps indoor bowls would be a better proposition, it may not have the alure of a sunny afternoon outside on the green, but it would be able to operate in all seasons and maintainnce would be less, and perhaps a vacant premises can be found to house it.
