Foreign actors to be exempt from paying income tax in Thailand

And the reason people do not want to film in Thailand was............................ It'll return, they'll return and then so will the tax

however, actors have been required to pay personal income tax while they were working in Thailand, despite the fact that they have to pay personal income taxes in their home countries as well.

How many rich people do you know who actually do pay taxes?

Taxes are only for the middle class and the poor.

That is your general perception. In reality most are paying taxes or using tax laws to avoid paying excess tax.

People seem to have their beady eyes focused firmly on the other peoples "haves" wealth, but forget that the money is tied up in the companies stocks, building, reinvesting and research in the company. They buy things, pay people and that is where some tax is recovered recovered by govt.

Now with CRS and FATCA reporting it is presumed that most peoples finances are known by banks and govt.

The Thai government has decided to waive personal income tax collection from foreign actors when working on films shot in Thailand in the next five years, in a fresh bid to attract foreign crews to the country and the associated revenue.

So a film shot in Thailand constitutes working in Thailand and therefore tax payment are liable?

Do they not pay taxes on earnings in their own country thus not liable in Thailand?

Why not tax them? They are WAY overpaid anyway!

pretty sure that only a chosen few actors are overpaid. the non-A listers and the crew aren't well paid in relation to the big boys. producers and studio execs skim from the top as well. not to mention the creative accountants who can make the most profitable movies in history run at a loss.

this is why you're mad if you actually part money to watch TV shows and movies.
