Popular Post onthedarkside
Scotland hit hardest in the UK as cases climb 40% to leave one in 20 people suffering from the disease Covid-19 infections continue to surge across the UK, with the number of people in England estimated to have the virus jumping 20 per cent to 1.3mn in the past week, according to the latest official survey. The rapid spread of infections is driven by new Omicron subvariants and has raised the virus’s prevalence in the population to the highest level since April 2022, the weekly study by the Office for National Statistics showed. ... The data released on Friday, covering the week to June 18, show that an estimated 1.36mn — 2.5 per cent of the population — in England would test positive for Covid. ... Reassuringly, there is no evidence that BA.4 and BA.5 cause more severe illness than previous variants. “We have seen a rise in hospital admissions in line with community infections but vaccinations are continuing to keep intensive care unit admissions and deaths at low levels,” said Susan Hopkins, UKHSA chief medical adviser. True, but we are a long way from businesses getting on with business as employees continue to get sick and are unable to work. 7

Popular Post Fore Man
I cannot believe that so many cruel minds out there still think COVID was just a joke, or worse yet, a sinister plot perpetuated by political interests. How can such people shrug off over ONE MILLION fatalities in the USA alone due to the pandemic? Such a cavalier attitude shows how ruthless and uncaring some folks are towards their fellow man. Shame on them! They’d best pray that one day when older and more susceptible that they won’t succumb to a future disease that could well dwarf this latest global pandemic. Mark my words: What comes around goes around. 4

Ass keener minds have said.....one death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic. Something to ponder on: ports were blocked in Yemen with US assistance and the population as subjected to massive bombing.....who exactly gave a care? MrJ2U
We'll see how prepared Thailand is for the next wave. Hopefully it's not too severe. Luckily many people have been vaccinated and/or have had it. Unluckily Anutin is still the minister of Health.

Yet no one panicking over cheese burgers or KFC are they ?

Well put, RayC. It’s an excellent analogy. And with regard to Mac’s post, yes, he also makes a worthy point, as many COVID deaths were exacerbated by comorbidities. But those victims would have likely survived many more years had COVID not arrived on the scene. Edited June 26, 2022 by Fore Man

I know employers who expect employees to come in if they are well enough to work. They may very well be infectious. For employees it depends on whether they have sick time available or not.
