Minibus Crashes Off Road in Heavy Rain, Driver Thrown from Vehicle and Killed
Picture courtesy of Khoasod. A minibus driver was killed after losing control of his vehicle on a sharp bend and crashing off the road in Phatthalung province. The crash occurred overnight, but the wreckage was only discovered in the morning. At around 07:45 on 2 April, police in Pa Bon district received a report from a passerby about a minibus that had veered off Phetkasem Road, on the northbound lane between Hat Yai and Phatthalung. Officers and rescue volunteers rushed to the scene, where they found the vehicle off the road. Nearby, the lifeless body of Mr. Piamsak 65, was discovered. He had been thrown from the vehicle and was estimated to have been dead for at least six hours. His body were transported to a hospital for a post-mortem examination. Local residents reported that around midnight, during heavy rainfall, they heard the sound of screeching brakes, suggesting a vehicle had lost control. However, when they initially checked, they saw nothing unusual. It was only at sunrise that they spotted the wrecked minibus, partially obscured by trees, and realised there had been a fatal crash. Authorities confirmed that Mr. Piamsak had been driving alone at the time of the crash, with no passengers on board. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident. -- 2025-04-03
