Sanook Thai Caption: Gran kicked while passing

Horrific CCTV footage posted on the "Sai Mai Tong Rort" site and shared by Sanook showed the moment a 76 year old gandmother casually walking under an umbrella is suddenly attacked by a man.

He appears to kick her twice as she is floored. The shocking video can be seen on the Sanook site here.

The attack left Anong in Bhumibol Hospital in Bangkok with a brain hemorrhage.

It happened at 11 am Monday in Pahonyothin Soi 50, Bang Khen.

Ekkaphop who runs the "Sai Mai" site called the man a danger to society who must be taken off the streets. He took the old lady's daughter Thanaporn, 54, to the Bang Khen police to report the incident.

They arrested a homeless man called Pongsan or "Big" aged 28.

He is well known locally as a habitual drunk and drug taker.

He reportedly admitted downing a whole bottle of spirits and taking three Ya Ba tablets.

He was incoherent on arrest. He has been in rehab twice for two four month periods.

He reportedly knew the old lady who had once had a go at him saying he should get a job.

He remembered her face and when asked why he attacked her and not someone else it is claimed he said:

"It was her turn."

He's been charged with being drunk and disorderly and assault and is in custody.

The old lady lives in an apartment near the scene of the attack, described as a quiet and lonely soi where people won't walk at night.

Big? Where do they get thinks from. He don´t look especially big. He definitely do not have a big brain. Also, I little coward like that, can not have a very big manhood. A little scared boy, hiding behind booze and drugs to be able to kick down a 76 year old woman. This guy is a waste of space, and should be removed from the planet.

No assault charges, or attempted murder?

In the excerpt you quoted from Webfact it does say - charged with drunk and disorderly AND assault.

Would be difficult to prove a charge of attempted murder from the evidence unless he actually said he wanted to kill her.  In many jurisdictions there are various levels of assault charges depending on the severity of injuries caused so it is possible the charges could become more serious.

You are correct. Thank you.

I vote the old ladies family rehabilitate this piece of trash in a locked room for 10 minutes

There should be a minimum of 5 years, without parole, for certain levels of intoxication. The same should apply for carrying arms without license.

There should be mandatory ouster from office for any politician who does not address the homeless problem in Thailand. Abhisit was right, Thailand should become a welfare state.

Here's a solution.

Back room, injection.

They're probably non violent, not all Thais are like him, so hopefully the court deals with him severely as the attack was non-provoked. But I do understand your sentiment
