It's been going on for many years Pratunam was full of illegal gambling dens when it was the main red light area, when R and R started, then the Red light slowly moved around to Nana. You can still see the peep holes in many of the buildings and houses in the back streets of Pratunam, my friend had a printing bussines there for over 40 years he used to tell me how it was when he first started as a young man from Denmark in his early 20s, he sadly passed a few years ago but his business still goes on managed by his family, he could speak fluent Thai and he also had Thai citizenship

Interesting piece of history, thanks,

Drats! Our little 14 room hotel is probably too small to use for money laundering! No point in pursuing it, I guess!

I mean, even with the most creative of number juggling, no one would ever believe this property would produce anything more than 5 or 6 million baht per year. And that would mean effectively [pretending to] triple our current rates......... (500-600 baht per night becomes 1,500-1,800 baht per night)......... and 100% occupancy, all the time!

Of course, if we're just pretending for the sake of laundering the money......... well........!

But only 5-6 million baht laundered per year? Small potatoes!

On the other hand........... takin' a cut and not having to clean a bunch of rooms every day? Hmmm. What was that phone number, again?????

Lol

Now Mr. Wu, he's got a naughty eye that flickers
You ought to see it wobble when he's ironing ladies blouses

"Chinese Laundry Blues" was Formby's signature tune, and the first of his "Mr Wu" songs ...the song was initially called "Chinese Blues," and its hero is a lovesick Chinese laundry worker in Limehouse, a dockside area of London which had a large Chinese population at this time.

Ah - there's the rub.  It's what Thai cops do best; turning a blind eye with the proper medication.

Is happened before so the police have form on this.  In Parliament he told of legal gambling and where it was happening.  The police did a raid but not until a couple of days later when it was found to be empty. He then asked a video of the building being emptied vertebrae his accusation and the police turning up.

have to wonder how long or how far they let chuwit go before he has a nasty accident or simply dissapears, outing thai police and chinese criminals can be bad for your health in Thailand

He outed the police years ago and he's still here. Maybe he has some information that's his insurance.
