I would suggest it is best to only give/tell them what they NEED to know to maximise your situation.  I.E.  A UK bank a/c and address at either a relative/friend or paid for mail forwarding company (legit) using Wise or similar to transfer £ to LOS.

Any other info is potentially dangerous to ones-self!

PS; Do NOT post this sort of info on social media or public forums! ????

I am UK pensioner living in Thailand.  I can confirm that life certs are sent out.  I missed one and only knew when my pension payments to UK bank were stopped.  Phone call to DWP got a new life cert e-mailed to me.  Local Dr. filled it in and I sent back to DWP.  No more problems.  Payment restarted and missed payments paid.

I would imagine you could use this method while pretending o live in UK and actually living  in Thailand.

I believe that DWP requirement is you live more than 180 days in UK to get your annual increases.

How does DWP check where you are as you do not get an entry stamp when coming into UK?

Under the current financial climate in UK, I cannot see the rule being changed, or any support from your local MP.

DWP will know if you are using the NHS services  from your local GP and might use this as way to check if you are in UK.

Grossly unfair, but we are not enough to influence government behaviour.

The way inflation is heading in UK it si becoming more worthwhile o consider cheating the system.

Where was the "proof of life cert" sent to--UK or Thailand?

Did you tell the DWP that you live in Thailand, if so that is why the "life cert" was sent to you!

I have never seen PROOF that a "life cert" has ever been sent to anyone with strong "ties" to the UK!

Nothing will change, never will, wrong on some counts, instant upgrade as soon as when you tell them, even from Thailand, don't think about too hard,no one is going to get punished

but moves afoot to combine new and old pensions, but grad pension, serps are difficult to administer

OK-- I try to look at options, Maybe racing back to the UK for a 2 hour visit is the way to go--but it still doesn't solve "Some" peoples problem about saying they reside in the UK when they dont.

The UK is coming from a situation where people could just travel to different countries in the EU with minimum problems. Finishing soon with Brexit-- more checking etc -note the problem with the France crossing on the news, not enough people for checking -so we are told.

In Oz the frozen pension situation was just the same as the UK-- then with the passports linked to other Gov dep came in with hardly any news. Then came a few prosecutions and claw back of money--then expanded to cover their NHS (Medicare) and all political parties didn't seem to want to know.

So a 2 hour stop over in Oz to grab a passport would be of no use--and I feel that will fast become the situation in the UK.

It was an eye opener dealing with Newcastle last week-- after establishing that the widow would get nothing at all, I just said, supposing he lived in the Philippines what would be the situation with the bereavement payment--she said it doesn't matter about her nationality-- he is the pension receiver, send us his Birth/Death/marriage cert... NI number her bank account number her ID -usually takes 14-21 days.  150K + is a lot of money to her.

I thought the bereavement payment etc was discontinued a few year ago?

I hear if caught they will reclaim overpaid money, not sure if there are any examples of that here?

Yes. Another friend (same town). He was daft enough to say that he had been in Thailand for 5 years!

Had to repay £5 per month...died before he finished the job.

My pal.

Didn't lie, just overlooked advising DWP of his return to Thailand.

I am totally confused by your posts/responses!

I still have no idea who or what you are posting about.

Have you tried using "Quotes" or "links" they might help the rest of us!

Since no other person has responded to your cryptic posts apart from myself how can you state "Everyone else is OK"?

I  still have no idea who or what you are posting about or referring to.

Rather than making pointless retorts to my helpful questions it might actually help if you made posts with appropriate quotes/links/refs etc that can actually help people link to and understand who or what you are referring to!

That is possible, I don't know his exact circumstances but he was allowed to pay the minimum £5 pm. No penalties or repercussions.

Never let anyone know you are living outside the UK, not your bank, doctor, friends, relatives, or any government agency.

Ever had to fill in the government verify (now gateway). They knew more about me than i did, failed to answer the questions every time. Every few years you need to confirm your status on the electoral list, council tax if claiming reduced payments etc etc. Not 100% but hasn't there has been posts on here before where payments have just stopped as they have realised they do not live in the UK. I would of thought a need to keep an address here is a must and someone to keep you informed of any appropriate mail

I've not been on the electoral role for 15 years.

Do have a Gateway account though, and claim tax rebates online.

I worked at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) before retiring and he has been caught out lying once and you think they are going to trust him?

(it will be on his file, I assure you)

It is so easy for DWP to establish these facts and they do regularly check, ie names and addresses are cross-matched with local taxation rolls and names not paying are investigated. Other options to check are also available.

They will check more thoroughly this time and he will be caught a 2nd time, with worse ramifications.

You realise the generalised statement from the DWP Revenue would be ....Court or a voluntary fine up to 10 times the amount being cheated!

The only way around this in general, are through reciprocal agreement countries.

Up to you!

1200 posts and 600 likes, must be in your smile!  You are not stating facts here concerning the State Pension. As someone who stated he worked at DWP,I have my doubts,     mopping the floor maybe
