Something new about Covid extension at Laksi ?

Recommended Posts

As I might have to (again) extend my stay in Thailand (in connection with applying for passports for my kids) what is required to get the Covid extension at Laksi?

Same as for an extension of stay on visa exempt entry?

How much is the fee and where could I download the application form in advance?

Are these extensions granted regardless/no questions asked?

I am currently on an 30 day extension of stay on visa exempt entry.

Many thanks!

It is about the same. It is the same application form and etc.

You will also be given a affidavit to complete that has tick boxes for the reason you need the extension.

Hi Ubonjoe, thanks.

And the reason can be ..... anything? ????

I am just wondering because there isn't really a compelling Covid related reason for most applicants.

They really don't check for that?

You select the reason on the affidavit. 60 Day Covid 19 Extension Affidavit.pdf229.8 kB · 1244 downloads

Basically they are being issued so people can stay here longer if they want to.

Thanks Ubonjoe and DrJack

So basically I check the second box and all is fine and no questions asked:

Will give that a try then. Already saw they open again on Monday 1st August.

Another question: last time I was on 30th June, I used a taxi, but I saw that there is some BTS station right there at IT Square. Which station is that? Is it in operation? Dark Red Line?

What BTS/MRT station does it connect to, coming on Sukhumvit Line from?

It is the red line. Map: https://goo.gl/maps/Gn1ybxTtVk72TPn29

Not aware of the station that connects to the redline.

The station, logically enough, is called Lak Si. From most parts of the Sukhumvit line, best is to change to the MRT at Asoke station (Sukhumvit on the MRT) which takes you to Bang Sue. From Bang Sue, it is just about 4 stops on the dark red line to Lak Si.

EDIT: Also possible is to take the Sukhumvit line to Mo Chit, walk to Chatuchak Park MRT station, and take the MRT to Bang Sue from there.

There is currently no direct connection from the Sukhumvit line to the dark red line.

Correct.

Office is on 3rd level.

There is a photocopy place next door if you overlook anything.

Not sure about Laski however some immigration offices were starting the 60 days on day of application for first covid extension.

Might be an idea not to go to early.

Thanks.

I would only need about two extra weeks, so if they give me 60 days, it doesn't matter much on what day those 60 days start.

All good.

If you have a flight out ticket have it with you.

It's not a requirement but some immigration officers have been playing games and asking to see one.

Hmm...I don't have one.

My flight out is on the 9th, but I have to stay longer.

This is why I have to try and get a Covid extension.

Once I have that, I can change my flight out.

What are the odds they will ask for it?

Maybe a "throw away" ticket to Singapore? ????
