  • And that is supposed to be the 'art teacher'. Feel sorry for the majority of kids, no wonder they behave how they do as young adults.

Sack the teacher. They are not fit for purpose.

Maybe the teachers FACE needs to be destroyed even further, by being terminated and charged with destruction of property.

Yes, there are bad and good teachers all over the world, and I've seen my share of them, going to catholic school for eight years, where the nuns hit you with rulers, and the lay teacher once banged my head against the blackboard hard enough so that chalk dust came out, much to the delight of my classmates.

Yes I would, I was hit many times at school for no apparent reason by a bullying teacher (I believe he took umbrage at me squinting at the blackboard). I eventually stood up and hit him back. He didn't do it anymore, he merely changed tactics and encouraged other pupils to hit me instead during lessons. <deleted> like that should be hanged. It doesn't happen now due to it being classed as common assault in the UK and the teacher can go to prison for assaulting a child.

Who said it was a female teacher?

I just did... but a strange presumption on my part..... all my art teachers were. The OP suggests the child and the teacher had the same parent too!

What a complete waste of space. How can a kid thrive when they are being 'tutored' by angry kids themselves?

Did anybody note the age of the 'kid'?

Not sure how old the Teacher is. :giggle:

What started to go wrong when it became illegal for teachers to assault children?

As a starter for ten can I suggest an increase in school children's bad behaviour inside their schools since then!

There is a big difference between "assault" of a child and the "discipline" of a child!

I do NOT condone the assault of any child, or adult, for that matter.

Have you ever tried teaching children, or adults, when there is even just one disruptive one in the classroom?

If not try it!

Not talking about appropriate use discipline, talking about the end of corporal punishment. Big difference, a teacher hitting a child is criminal assault

to the extent that some pupils started assaulting the teachers  coupled with a general breakdown in discipline  "spare the rod and spoil the child"  never a truer saying

Not in my experience, a disruptive student can impact the class performance, its about your skills as a teacher to have effective discipline strategies from preventative, supportive and corrective each with their own levels and distinct actions.

Resorting to hitting you’ve already failed as well as being illegal in Thailand, all of Europe and the UK

Yes, Teachers stopped hitting Children when the Mothers began going to the School and hitting the teachers back .

Parents protect their Children , even from people who are there to teach them .

I have never understood the thought process of hitting Children because those Children hit other Children .

Like" Its wrong to hit other people and if you do hit other people, I will hit you to show its wrong to hit people "

When a culture of hitting children is shared by the teachers this is often the result.

Abuse in Thai schools requires a long, hard look in the mirror

There are now 13 employees of the Sarasas Witaed Ratchaphruek School who are facing charges after the parents of 30 students complained that their children, mostly around kindergarten age, had been physically abused, said police Lt. Gen. Ampol Buarubporn, the regional police commissioner overseeing the case.

Doesn't echo my experience     When ever my  parents found out I had received a dose of the cane or strap  they would generally supplement the punishment with a few whacks of their own   That was the case with my friends too .  I can't say we didn't deserve it.    what other punishments do kids respect....detention , the naughty corner, lines  don't be ridiculous the only thing available to teachers these days is "exclusion"  which really is an admission of defeat and about as much use as an ashtray on a  motorbike

It did my Headmaster some harm .

After he took a pupil into his office and gave him the cane , six of the best and then the pupils battleaxe of a Mother to seven kids , came down the School and chased the headmaster around the corridors and he then locked himself into the same office hiding from the Mother

Just as well you don’t work in a special needs school where that can happen but no I’ve never had any violence directed at me from the so called “uncontrolled brats” and I’ve worked for 15 years as a teacher 12 of which were in London.

yeah they seem to be more concerned with gender identity , where did it all go wrong?

Where did what all go wrong?

They are more concerned with teaching the children and young people effectively and productively to prepare them for the outside world and work or University. No need to be hit them to do that.

This OP is not about gender identity by the way.

The kid was supposed to turn in the project but left it out.

Maybe he will learn to pay attention the future.

Maybe the school door was locked and he could get inside ?

Maybe he wont bother making anything  next time ?

Hopefully the student will learn to hand their work in politely, with the speed, bow and wai I was given tonight's 30% padded restaurant bill.

You need a degree to even begin the road of becoming a UK qualified teacher, this bars anyone who’s intelligence is so low to call children scum so congratulations, they would likewise feel insulted by having you there.

That's the problem with teachers, most of them are totally out of touch with reality many have absolutely no real life experience, having spent their entire life in the protected left leaning world of academia. As pupils then students and then straight into teaching

I didn't call all children scum, I said  SOME children are  scum  Admittedly a little off topic but if you need an example try typing   Robert Thompson and Jon Venables into google and see what pops up.   maybe they were just "misunderstood" eh?
