LaosLover Posted August 30, 2022 Share Posted August 30, 2022 Been to Nahm (great, a little gimmicky), Bo Lan (no sadly closed), Ruang Mahal (single best food experience of my life), Sri Bua (best 5* Thai to date), and Paste (too modern molecular, but stunning), Ministry of Crab (derangedly overpriced), Gaggan (very pretty plates, food merely very good). Down a notch: Gaucho Steakhouse (great, but I can eat a steak at home), Charcoal (modern Indian fusion with a killer brunch; check out Indus too), The Lemongrass House (superb mid priced thai in a nice old house). Marriot on Sukhamvit has a buffet for $150 (includes unlimited high end wine) that has every luxury item on earth. I wish I liked foi gras. Stuck with the Fin Au Claire oysters. Rang Mahal has a Sunday buffet that's a semi-bargain. No tandoori shrp tho. Buffets are a little stressful because you're always calculating how to beat the buffet. If you are including buffets though it is hard to beat Trader Vic's, Sunday afternoon at the Anantara Riverside. Free boat from Taksin pier which is a nice trip, the most amazing food and drinks, free flow sparkling wine, wines, beer, and some cocktails. Really lovely if you sit outside, lots of live cooking stations too so your stuff is fresh. 3,300 baht ++. The quality of all their restaurants makes them a bargain compared to Hong Kong/NYC. I see the Peninsula is offering a $400 vegan tasting menu for a nightly seating of six patrons now. I considered it for about a second and half, but I didn't like the menu.
