Without a backup browser and access to the Internet you will be well and truly stuffed in fixing any problem,

use your phone to download Firefox offline installer. move the .exe file to your PC using USB cable then install.

if you don't have a phone then you really are daffy ????

Slight tangent from original post, but useful for stopping some or all of those pesky "features" that come with Windows.

Small free program that doesn't need to be installed and give many options for a better Windows experience with just one click.

Works with Win 10 and Win 11

Still using 2007..........:whistling:

Win 10, local sign in and One Drive is obliterated as much as I can. I tried Linux and will probably go back to it rather than move to 11.

W7 was great but security wise not a good move. I don't even think MSFT is doing security patches any more. I deal with hundreds of student documents and computer is on the internet a great deal.

I will also move to Linux when the computer is in its last throes but need Office 2019 and was given by school. W11 was free upgrade. It makes no sense to stay on legacy OS.

Obviously, your computer can't run 11 even if you wanted it to

There is a work around to adding local account without email and I download programs on snapfile not MS store

I'm pretty sick and tired of the data mining efforts.

No "Google" on either my PC or phone.

Presume there's apple hardware in the mix so a shallow win. Apple just as if not controlling and more invasive with DRM and a bunch of its other rubbish.

Can't really remove Google from Android unless you use custom ROM and ones wo Gapps at that.

Apps like that are all well and good until months later you get some weird Windows / App issue that you can't fix and it turns out it's because you used an app to "customise" Windows ages ago...

Agreed... and I love to tweak.

As mentioned I am on Win 10 on my current laptop which is more than capable of being moved onto 11 if I wanted to.

Anyways if you bothered to look at the App properly you would realize that it does not actually change anything, it just stops unwanted Windows "Features" from loading.

err, so it does change things then.

Anyway, I'm glad it works for you and it seems to be from a legit German company which is always good. But even with the best intentions, with an app like this all it takes is for Microsoft to make a change behind the scenes and you could have some unpredictable results.

So how would you know your "weird Windows issue" originated from this app?

Probably something you picked up from one of the porn sites.

Don't want Cortina or One Drive or anything you don't ever use one click will disable it.

Not happy with the results? one click and everything will set back to original.

I've been using it for years, does what it says on the box.

You can't disable Cortana and onedrive maybe it just hides it. If you're looking to not simply hide but reduce load on resources and conflicts I doubt that app does the trick for those two or any of it. Even though aspects of windows is self-healing you can just click and poof it's back - if it's actually been deleted.

OMG! But updates are a way of life. Supported apps update along with Windows, yawn.

You can, but not with this app, as that isn't the purpose of the app.

Straw man based on ignorance. Why doubt, when you can actually know the purpose of the app?

Or when MSFT stops supporting 10 lol. Holdouts are funny... It's not as though this is windows 8. You'll go when you must or you'll move to Linux.

Must? Has M'soft announced a disabling of Win 10 at some future date, unlike Win 98 - Win 8.1? Big news indeed. Members accessing from desktops will be awfully upset when their PCs suddenly won't boot--and they can't even come here to rant about it! Not to say ANF itself . . . business gon' be way down.

You stated that you can restore in one click. If the files were actually deleted how would that be possible?

Don't know why I bother :saai:

I don't post a lot of stuff on here but what I do post is small programs that I find useful and use myself.

Just trying to be helpful

If you bothered to actually read the OP and/or go to the website you'd notice that nothing gets deleted just disabled. There is a difference.

Most people don't like all the whistles and bells that come with a Windows installation, then come on here to bitch about all the unnecessary "junk" force on them by Microsoft, then spend hours/days scouring the Internet on how to disable this or that.

This program does all that work for you, it just disables a bunch of features that some people don't want and because it's disabled not deleted one click will get everything back to "Factory Settings"

Such utter cluelessness about who said what about what in relation to what could only result from neglecting to take your meds. Get back on the sched, please.

  • 3 weeks later...

I only use Edge in IE mode for my CCTV recorder box that will not work in any other. Otherwise hate it, perhaps not as a browser, but the way MS tries to force to do things their way and migrate to Edge.

Otherwise have Chrome, Vivaldi, Opera (free VPN!) and old Firefox v52.0.1 ESR edition that runs all the old great plugins, cannot update that one..

Normally use FF but some websites will not open in this old version, hence the others.

Vivaldi is great as it allows you to create freestanding apps from websites.
