Oh dear.

You really do take the biscuit.

If it wasn't so funny it would be sad.

  • He has inherited it on paper only.   He can't sell it, mortgage it or rent it out. There really is no value to him. It is just an object.   When will people get it into their heads

  • Absolute arrogant right-wing tosh.   The only true British patriot is a narrow-minded, insular zealot, eh?   Just because I have a different vision of what I want the UK to look li

Was what I said incorrect? Or do you mean they need defending from thoughts and opinions?

I do not know what you want me to answer. Perhaps you could rephrase the question?

Are you American by chance ??

Ah. So now it matters what job you did as part of the patriot qualifying criteria. I see. Does a binman or a postal worker have any less right to retire abroad now than a squaddie?

Nice dodge, but my post applies to anyone, I quoted an example, please try again....????

Funny you should mention it! No...

How about we all give it a rest now. It's getting tedious.  You can keep your opinion while the rest of us on here agreed to disagree with you.

Could you please rephrase the question as what you wrote before was basically rhetorical.

Really. Ok.  Good luck with it.  I'm outta here...better things to do with my time.

Perhaps you should give up, your posts are confusing, as well as your dodges.....I am still waiting for the "flag" explanation....????

Great.....????

Yes Baboon you asked why does our Monarch need so much protection i asked why does a American President fly over a six ton armoured, bomb proof, limo for protection perhaps ?

I have already explained to you that your "flag" post was removed for trolling. And as such, I am not willing to risk sanctioning by responding.

At the end of the day, us Brits have had a reigning Monarch on a throne for over a thousand years and it will carry on, other countries cannot comprehend this due to their history Australia for instance founded on a penal colony in the 17th century or the US founded in 1776 when they accepted Independence from England suck it up boy's.

Actually no, I didn't. I asked another poster how much more protection they needed over and above what they already have.

And in answer to your question, you would need to speak to the American secret service about it, not me.

Aren't they surrounded by armed guards? How much more defence do they need? I think you were asking another member this question so i asked you a security question i never asked about the secret service but you deflected the answer never mind.

Clearly one of us is getting the wrong end of the stick, so I think we had better leave it there. Enjoy your afternoon.

If you and your click do not support the UK monarchy, then you do not support the UK and its history.

If you don't like it because you are a lefty or worse, then move on to a country that suits you, there must be countries out there to accommodate you with open arms...????..........????

Utter nonsense.

Once again a rightwing nationalist demonstrated a narrow understanding of the national history he invokes.

Wasn’t Oliver Cromwell a Patriot?

Throughout the 19th Century there were multiple debates in Parliament on the abolition of the monarchy, at a time when the UK’s left wing parties didn’t exist, socialism and communism were not yet even invented.

The UK has a long history of Republicanism.

A patriot..... "a person who supports their country and is prepared to defend it."

Fair enough.

That would include defending King/Queen also. Something you are not doing.

No it doesn't. You are basically saying that the constitution is fixed forever.

No, it is my British view, from one who respects its heritage and does not want it destroyed by lefty loonies...

As I said, there are countries out there for anyone who doesn't like the British thing, try Russia for starters, they fixed your stuff.....

Again more right-wing arrogance. Those who don't share my views should leave the country. A philosophy straight out of the Dark Ages.

It's perfectly possible to embrace and enhance the positive elements of our cultural heritage, while discarding the negative and/or outdated elements.

In the present. That is where we are. There is a monarch. Patriots defend the monarch.

Should the constitution ever change, we'll talk again.

In the mean time, you are being churlish.

Communism 19th century.

Socialism 18th Century.

You say there were multiple debates about abolishing the monarchy. How many resulted in "yes" to abolishing?

There may have been  minority of Republicans in Parliament but there certainly has not been a history of republicanism in UK.

I am not being churlish. I am disagreeing with your premise that in order to be a patriot, you also have to be a monarchist.

No. I said in order to be a patriot you must be prepared to defend your nation. That would include the monarchy.

I have never said you have to be a monarchies.

Patriots don’t necessarily defend the monarch.

I suggest you read the history of the English Civil War.
