People living along Mun River in Ubon Ratchathani advised to prepare for evacuation

The rising level of the Mun River, in Thailand’s north-eastern province of Ubon Ratchathani following heavy rain last night, has forced provincial officials to replace their preventive plans with those for evacuation, in anticipation of more heavy rain when Tropical Storm Noru hits the province tonight.

 

This morning (Wednesday), the water level in the river had risen by about 13cm from yesterday and has started to emerge through drainage system in the municipal area of Muang district.

 

The Catholic community, which is located in a low-lying area, is experiencing flooding from water rising out of the drainage system.

A 'Catholic' community.... what the hell has religion etc. got anything to do with the flooding?

A Catholic school.   Catholics.   Yes, if the information is known then I would like to know.

 

Like in China, a Uigher community would give me a better understanding if noted.

 

A Falang community would also be welcomed.   

 

A Christian group......................yes, might be helpful.

 

I don't understand the big problem...........maybe write to the Vatican and demand answers!!!  Sue the publication!!!  How dare they describe a community!!!!!   Investigate!!!!

If a church/temple/synagogue in your country get flooded it wouldn't be named?

Nothing special, nearly a yearly occurance of flooding adjacent to Mun river on the Warin side of Ubon, its basically a natural wetland down there. Most just pack it up, collect cash and food handouts and live it temp shelters on the higher ground near the main road
