What is the maximum amount a landlord can charge a tenant for a late fee in Thailand? Is there some consumer protection in case of overcharging?  It's just a normal 1 year condo rental from private person, so I think law about commercial renting from owner with 5 or more properties don't apply here. Just wanted to know what is the tenant's rights, or any amount of penalty can be written in contract.

If there’s no mention in the contract then the landlord can charge up to the maximum allowed interest rate, which currently stands at 15% per annum for general loans.

Thing is that in civilised countries there is maximum amount that landlord can charge irrespective what is in contract. Same thing as with loans. There is consumer protection laws about it. So I wanted to check is there such law in Thailand or not, so far I haven't got the answer.
