Former school director gets 192 years in prison over school lunch scandal

 

The former director of a kindergarten, in Thailand’s southern province of Nakhon Si Thammarat, has been sentenced to 192 years in prison, without suspension, for cheating children out of their free lunch funding, by providing them with just rice noodles and fish sauce.

Thai policeman admits to stealing over 100 guns from Pak Kret police station

A non-commissioned police officer, attached to Pak Kret district police in Nonthaburi Province, is in custody on theft charges for allegedly selling or pawning more than 100 handguns, which he had allegedly stolen from the district police’s store room over the past five years.

PRIME Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha Friday (Oct. 21) refused to comment on a possible cabinet reshuffle and a suggestion that former deputy prime minister MR Pridiyathorn Devakula is suitable to head Palang Pracharath Party’s economic team, Thai Rath and Matichon newspapers said.

Roadwork completion on Soi Buakhao pushed back to next Songkran after fire, Pattaya deputy mayor admits

Pattaya — Pattaya deputy mayor Manote Nongyai inspected the fire scene on Soi Buakhao 15 after communication wires caught fire on October 19th, saying the completion of the drainage system construction project has been delayed to at least the next Songkran Day in April 2023.

Heavy to very heavy rains to continue in parts of Southern Thailand

The weather bureau has warned that incessant rainfall will continue in parts of Southern Thailand and flashfloods may be expected in certain areas. Although tropical storm Nesat has dissipated, another potential storm is brewing and will likely exert a minor influence on Thailand at the end of the month.

King Chulalongkorn Day – About Monday’s Public Holiday

Monday the 24th October is a public holiday in Thailand as Sunday 23rd October marks “King Chulalongkorn Day” or known in Thai as “Wan Piyamaharaj Day”. It is the memorial day of the passing away of King Chulalongkorn 1910 at the age of 57. He had ruled what was then Siam, for 42 years.
