Dermatologists In Chiang With Expertise Treating White-skinned Farangs

Dermatologists in Thailand generally fall under the category of those who provide Thais with vanity cosmetic treatments.

I want to find a dermatologist in Chiang Mai who has a proven track record of treating skin diseases for white-skinned patients of European decent.  I'd appreciate recommendations.

The problem is very few Thai have skin cancer so most doctors will not have much experience with it and may not feel the need for biopsy when it should be routine.  Those that have practiced in US/UK/Oz may have more experience but as mentioned most actual work is not cancer here in Thailand.  So a proactive 'perhaps we should check for cancer' can be important for patient if doctor is preparing to remove something with laser.  Yes it is additional cost - but could be an important investment.

Dr Anna, arguably the best dermatologist in Thailand for farangs. She trained and worked in the US and has treated me twice for skin cancer. Seems she has half of the farangs in the Pattaya/Chonburi area on her patient list and always comes highly recommended.

 

Edit: Sorry, just noticed this is the CM forum. The Dr I mentioned works in Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.

I have been going to her for the past few years.  Very knowledgeable.  The only issue is she is not a surgeon so any extractions will be on referral.  I 100% recommend her for the inital visit, liquid nitrogen, body inspection and questions.

Ajarn Siri is considered the best in C.M. and at one time worked in the USA. He's been around longer than most of the others.

 

I think his clinic is actually located at the Center for Medical Excellence now, and not at the Sriphat building (which has moved). Well the building didn't move but the clinics moved to another building and they still call it "Sriphat".????

Yes he does, it's near Pratu Thaphae. "Siri Clinic" on google will get you there. His clinic is very old, small and crowded. If a biopsy is needed or it's complex issue, he will ask you to see him at the Center for Medical Excellence.

Yes clinic inside of the moat about 20 m before the Kafe. Used it in the past, overcrowded and the good dr always seemed in a hurry. Switched to Dr Vachiraporn and very happy with that. Many people have used dr Siri so I do not doubt his competence.

The signs are all in Thai so not very welcoming for farang.

Have you ever visited his night time clinic and seen it in action?

Yes, I've been a patient there for 16 years. My wife's family has been seeing Dr. Siri for around 25 years. His night time clinic is crazy busy. Sometimes there are 50 people in the queue to see him. At times he does seem rushed, but if he suspects cancer or anything serious, he will ask the patient to wait and he will examine them closer in the treatment room in back and have his staff arrange an appointment as his clinic at CMU. He's very careful when he does surgery and never leaves a scar.

That being said - Dr Vachiraporn is my go to lady for skin care - white, black, tan, purple, green, whatever !

Actually it is very relevant as skin is not just skin and the white skin of some foreigners is about 20x more likely to develop skin cancer than that of a Thai (asia).  Take a look at these melanoma charts.

She also has a clinic on canal road south of Sutep road on the left going south she is there Im thinking Mon Wed and Fridays 5 to 8 pm
