A woman drowned in the sea. There was no evidence of foul play. Police assumed that she committed suicide.

On 26 June 2007, at 3 AM, Pol.Maj.Chaiporn Thongna-Phian, Investigator, Pattaya, was notified by Pattaya municipal officials that an unidentified woman drowned in the sea around Bali Hai Pier, South Pattaya, Moo 10, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi. They rushed to investigate, along with Sawang Boriboon Rescue and a doctor from Banglamung hospital.

At the scene, there were many Thais and foreign bystanders near the dead woman’s body, which had been taken up to the shore. Police estimated that the woman was approximately thirty to thirty-five years-old. The slender woman had short hair and was wearing a red and gray T-shirt, black trousers and was shoeless. There were no identifying documents on her person. Officials found no evidence indicating an attack. The body was transferred to Banglamung Hospital pending identification.

A tourist, who was a witness, told police that the woman was walking around the area. Later on, she went into the sea, but nobody paid attention because it was assumed that she was going to play in the water. After ten minutes, the woman was no longer in view as she had, apparently, drowned. The witness immediately informed municipal officials who brought her up to the shore, but she was already dead.

Police theorized that she had no relatives and might have had health problems, causing her to commit suicide. At the moment, her identification is still unknown.

Am I the only one finding the amount of 'suicide' reports a bit odd? Many people have been on anti-depressants in their life even if for a short period, im sure it would be easy to dub someone as having a history of mental illness.

..Maybe im being cynical.
