Siam Rath reported on yet another case of a man in the NE high on yaba, white spirits and marijuana who threatened and attacked villagers.

It happened in the village of Ban Sampahan in Udon Thani.

A yaba addict called Theerawat, 31, or "Ton" had been driving around the village on a motorcycle threatening to kill everyone.

There were fears of another massacre like the one in Nong Bualamphu last month, said the media.

Ton attacked two men from a neighboring village out fishing.

One ran off after being kicked.

The other was attacked with a hoe breaking a molar and rendering him unconscious.

Thinking him dead the assailant then buried him in a pile of sandy earth and left the scene.

The assailant was arrested some while later after being surrounded in a creek 2 kilometers away.

The man who was buried alive was saved by a neighbor. A few minutes later and he would have been dead.

Thawin, 50, was the hero who saved the day.

Banjong said that Ton is a menace who has caused his own parents to have to flee their own home.

Sopha, 55, is recovering in hospital after his near death experience.

Ton is in custody.
