A big bike rider crashed into a road barrier and sustained serious injuries causing some local residents to call for better safety precautions and warning signs for construction areas.

Sawang Boriboon rescuers were contacted to aid a road accident victim in front of the Esso gas station at 3.30 AM this morning, November 16th, 2022.

The rescuers arrived at the scene in the Naklua sub-district of Banglamung, Chonburi. The male victim was around 25-30 years old. His name could not be identified, according to rescuers.

Where I live one can hear these bikes on both Sukhumvit and Hwy 36.... at these late hours they are enjoying an opportunity to open their machines up. There are probably 3 maybe 4 places where current roadworks would catch a fast bike out between North Rd and Hwy 36...There are some very unwise, poorly marked examples.

Residents have called for better lighting at roadwork areas, warning signs, barriers, and even staff with flares and warnings at night.

If Thailand moves to using people waving flares at night, they may as well also move to having people walking in front of cars and bikes waving flags too

There appears to be no policy and no standard operating procedures controlling roadworks.......many are potential death traps.

The lead-in to narrowing lanes is often not sign posted, very short and abused by selfish drives trying to push in at the front.

I agree with them about the dangers of the roadworks. In 20 odd years or more driving here the last few years are by far the worst. Their really doesn't seem to be anyone in overall control. It seems like different groups from the council just dig up roads for whatever reason and leave it like that, apparently it's someone else's job to fill the holes back in. Second road has been dug up for about a year now. I figure another couple of years before they finish the drainage on that one and suspect it won't cure the flooding problems.
