Can you get a re-entry permit at any immigration office?

Can you get a re-entry permit at any immigration office, or does it have to be your "home" office? 

 

Obviously, you can get one at Swampy but that's not always convenient. So, can I walk into any immigration and get a re-entry permit? 

 

EDIT It's been a looong time, but is the process at Swampy still the same?

They do everything including take your photo (assuming you don't mind paying their processing fee of course).

You have to apply for the re-entry permit at the immigration office where you are living unless you change your address to another office.

I can't answer your main question but can tell you about getting a re-entry permit at BKK (Swampy). I have always found it much easier and faster to get the re-entry permit at the airport than at Chaeng Wattana Immigration. I print the form in advance, complete it and stick on the photo at home. As entering the immigration area head direct to the re-entry permit processing office (no need to stop at the desk where they do the form for you). Never waited more than 5 minutes - even before covid times. Got a multi re-entry there in September, again no more than 5 minutes. They even once transferred a multi re-entry permit to my new passport. They then let you into the immigration desk area to get stamped out.

 

A couple of notes: If you are using the fast track in the main hall then they will escort you to the re-entry permit office. If you are using the Thai airways fast track then you might need to ask an immigration officer to escort you there.

I was just at Survanabhumi airport trying to get a re-entry permit.  Have flight on 23 November.  But I was denied access because I didn't have a boarding pass to enter.   Was I at the wrong place trying to get to Immigration or you really need to have gotten checked in for your flight?

Yes

But Suvarnabhumi is not the only airport that has a re-entry permit desk.

Thank you for clarifying.   I had another question on the re-entry permit, at Suvarnabhumi or other airports.  In order to get to the permit desk, do you need to be checked in with ticket for boarding or is it possible to just go to the re-entry permit desk and request same?  I was turned away today from entering without a ticket/boarding pass at Suvarnabhumi.

You need a boarding pass as the re-entry permit desk is after security.  Just plan for a little extra time in advance on the date you fly.

In general, it must be the immigration office where you received your extension of stay, or at an international airport on the date of departure. However, there are some immigration offices adjacent to or near a land crossing where they will also be processed.
