Traffic Pattaya Introduces Smart Crossings for Enhanced Safety
"Show me the incentive and I'll show you the outcome" - Charlie Munger I can't see it making any difference, except maybe for a few days as drivers adjust to the new flashing lights. The issue is not "visibility" of traffic control lights/ signals, but the attitudes of the drivers. If you are going to jump a red, you are going to jump a red. You might have to relearn what is going on at a pedestrian crossing, but you're going to learn how to jump it "safely" and continue with the behaviour. As a defensive measure, I'd like to propose an addendum to the safety cards and videos shown when boarding flights to Thailand to include a section on crossing the road. Or maybe a verbal announcements read out as the aeroplane approaches landing (the intercom announcements on approaching Malaysia werte quite scary)? Perhaps a quiz for non-Thais at immigration, to be completed while queuing at passport control? Considering the stupid questions asked at USA immigration, it doesn't seem too harsh. -

Re-entry permit: what's the logic behind it?
Don't follow also. I took the OP as referring to extensions of stay. In Cambodia, one can enter on a 30 day 'E' visa then obtain a 12 month extension without the necessity for re-entry permits. -

EU Russia threatens UK with nuclear annihilation in unhinged WW3 rant
The Trident missiles have a 30 year life span. Many were built in 1992-1995. They are being refurbished, for an extension of life, not replaced. Technology that is 25 years old is usually obsolete. The UK has not invested in its military for some time, and the remaining 4 ballistic missile submarines it now operates are clunkers . They were built between 1993 and 1999 and are not planned to be replaced until (perhaps) starting in 2030. The Russians can hear these submarines and can track them. They can assign hunter- killer submarines to neutralize the Vanguards. The UK needs new ballistic submarines and more of them, now, not in a decade.
