They instead actively tried to DISprove it rather than verify. Witness the 50 'intelligence officials' who all said it was Russian disinformation. Its only accurate if it is ALL is forensically analysed. CBS did not do that they only made assumptions, read the thread. Washington Post also could not verify all of it, only a small portion. They did find tampering of the data had been evidenced before it even reached the FBI. You are wrong to state that there's no evidence that it had been altered in any way. A review of hard drive by The Washington Post - March 30, 2022 The vast majority of the data — and most of the nearly 129,000 emails it contained — could not be verified by either of the two security experts who reviewed the data for The Post. The experts found the data had been repeatedly accessed and copied by people other than Hunter Biden over nearly three years. (Before possession by the FBI) Most of the data obtained by The Post lacks cryptographic features that would help experts make a reliable determination of authenticity The Post’s review of these emails found that most were routine communications that provided little new insight into Hunter Biden’s work for the company. https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2022/03/30/hunter-biden-laptop-data-examined/ The media followed their own policies at the time which clearly did not allow them to publish or link to any data from the laptop. https://web.archive.org/web/20190717143909/https://help.twitter.com/en/rules-and-policies/hacked-materials https://web.archive.org/web/20190625224627/https://help.twitter.com/en/rules-and-policies/personal-information Even the so called Twitter files that Musk released confirmed there was no evidence of government collusion to suppress the laptop story: “no evidence” of “any government involvement in the laptop story.” Taibbi found that federal law enforcement had contacted Twitter months before the New York Post article with a “general” warning about “possible foreign hacks,” When NBC tried to report on the story: "Most mainstream news organizations, including NBC News, have not been granted access to the documents. NBC News asked by email, text, phone call and certified mail, and was ultimately denied." Some emails that the Washington Post were able to verify are quite interesting though regarding Tucker Carlson's relationship with Hunter. Favours for the boys. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/05/19/look-time-tucker-carlson-asked-hunter-biden-favor/ many questions remain about how the materials got into the hands of Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, who has met with Russian agents in his effort to dig dirt on the Bidens. U.S. intelligence agencies have informed the White House that Giuliani has been in contact with alleged Russian intelligence agents. The FBI has been looking into whether the Russians played any role, and no official has ruled that out. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/here-s-what-happened-when-nbc-news-tried-report-alleged-n1245533 Edited December 6, 2022 by Bkk Brian 1 1

The Washington Post and the New York Times did the same. Is that enough evidence for you? The paper said it spent months reviewing the data and making two copies of the hard drive so they could be analyzed by Matt Green, a Johns Hopkins University security researcher, and Jake Williams, a forensics expert and former National Security Agency operative. Both experts concluded that the verified emails carried cryptographic signatures that would be hard to fake, even for the best computer hackers. https://nypost.com/2022/03/30/washington-post-admits-hunter-biden-laptop-is-real/ So? How does that prove that what is stated in the emails is true? For that matter, what smoking gun statements are in the emails?

Can you guarantee there are no lies or misrepresentations in the data on the hard drive? 2. The media almost always waits for verification, and generally regrets those rare times when it doesn't. I don't recall any reputable media organization stating Russian collusion as a fact, only as a concern. If you can provide examples of the Russian collusion concerns reported as fact, please do so. Twitter didn't want to play the October surprise game unless the story was verified. That was the responsible thing to do.
metisdead
FBI warned Twitter during ‘weekly’ meetings of Hunter Biden ‘hack-and-leak operation’ before censoring The Post The FBI warned Twitter during “weekly” meetings before the 2020 election to expect “hack-and-leak operations’’ by “state actors” involving Hunter Biden, and “likely” in October, according to a sworn declaration by Twitter’s former head of site integrity, Yoel Roth. The warnings were so specific that Twitter immediately censored The Post’s scoop about Hunter Biden’s laptop on Oct. 14, 2020, citing its “hacked materials” policy, a move described on Saturday as “election interference” by Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk. The extraordinary revelation for the first time lays bare how the FBI was involved in pre-bunking the story of the laptop, which had been in the bureau’s possession for almost a year. https://nypost.com/2022/12/04/fbi-warned-twitter-of-hunter-biden-hack-before-censoring-the-post/ 1

The first son attended the star-studded reception in the East Room where President Biden addressed the Kennedy Center honorees who included George Clooney, the Irish rock band U2, Grammy winner Gladys Knight, composer Tania León and singer-songwriter Amy Grant. White House pool reporters covering the ceremony sought to question Hunter Biden about release of the so-called “Twitter Files” and the impending Republican investigations of his foreign business dealings, detailed by The Post’s reporting in 2020. https://nypost.com/2022/12/05/hunter-biden-mum-on-twitter-revelations-about-the-posts-laptop-expose/

ozimoron
MAGA Republicans’ Hunter Biden obsession underscores a 'deep psychological need' Republicans who are obsessed with Hunter Biden, Charen writes, have “provided succor and support” to a former president “who has encouraged political violence since his early rallies in 2015, has stoked hatred of minorities through lies, has used his office for personal gain in the most flagrant fashion, has surrounded himself with criminals and con men, has committed human rights violations against would-be immigrants by separating children from their parents, has pardoned war criminals, has cost the lives of tens of thousands of COVID patients by discounting the virus and peddling quack cures, has revived racism in public discourse, and attempted a violent coup d’état.” “They know it,” Charen writes. “It gnaws at them. That’s why the Hunter Biden story is their heart’s desire. But here’s something else they need to meditate on: Even if everything they’re alleging about Joe Biden were true — even if he did pull strings to help his son and even profited unjustly thereby — it still wouldn’t amount to a fraction of what Trump did.” https://www.rawstory.com/maga-republicans-hunter-biden-obsession-underscores-a-deep-psychological-need-former-reagan-speechwriter/
ozimoron
It was last week that Elon Musk dangled the arrival of a promised multiday blitz of internal company documents, a stunt he pumped up to his 120 million followers — starting with the backstory on the company’s late-2020 decision to block users from sharing coverage of Hunter Biden’s leaked laptop files. The first episode came on Friday night, in a 40-tweet thread from journalist Matt Taibbi, who had been provided some of the company’s internal files and emails. Five days later, for all Musk’s promotion and drum-rolling, there have been no further releases — just a freewheeling online chat Saturday night that featured a cast of colorful personalities talking about free speech. https://www.politico.com/news/2022/12/08/twitter-files-hunter-biden-laptop-00072919
