COVID surge just a “new wave” which will gradually fade after the New Year

Not sure if wearing a mask is a "Thai custom"?????????

The 'mask mandates' are probably the silliest of all the silly ineffective mandates put in place during this thing.

Sitting down in a restaurant without a mask was considered OK, but the moment you stood up to leave, the mask has to go back on.

That is beyond illogical - it seems deliberately designed to disorient and demoralize the citizenry.

There is not much of a wave. I have a friend who is a surgical nurse at a major hospital, and she told us they are barely seeing any new cases, and the fatality rate at this time is extremely low, fro

Was at Ram about a week ago.

A few foreigners there not wearing masks.

Every Asian wearing masks.

It is flu season.

You are in a hospital.

Sick people, people with weak immune systems.

You show no respect and no caring to the 95% wearing masks.

Instead you brag about your behavior.

What you did is no more praiseworthy than people coming to Thailand and bragging about not wearing motorcycle helmets.

[The hospital should be insisting on masks].

The time for respect and caring for those wearing masks is over.

Instead it is now recognition of their choice.

There is no mandate.

Sure, a hospital can be a exception.

Otherwise it is personal choice.

Maybe I will be afforded respect, caring and recognition for exercising my right not to don the nappy.

Habit more than custom, I think  -  and one that existed (not to such a great extent) before Covid.

"Not to such a great extent?"

Never saw one in Pattaya until 2019.

Can't recall them in the wife's village prior to 2019. Balaclavas for sure, being multi purpose in the fields.

Never saw one in Bkk prior to 2019 when I was still prowling around.????????

I think the World Cup in Qatar is a good indicator of what people really think about Covid now. I was in Japan last month and well over 95% of the population were still wearing masks outside. In Qatar on the other hand, zero percent of Japanese football fans, and the same with Korean fans, are wearing masks. Back home in eastern Asia most people are following what they are being told they ought to do rather than think about the logical reason for wearing or not wearing a mask at this particular time.

Sitting in a busy restaurant with lots of people - mask off.

Sitting alone in a car with nobody else inside - mask on.

Nuts!!

Its a disgrace the amount of farang not wearing masks.

I was in a mall in Hua Hin today and only farang not wearing masks.

Have they never heard of "wink when entering the land"? Probably not.

They should respect the locals customs.

So you never wear a helmet, never fasten your seat belt, have half a dozen of [ex]virgin mia nois, and become a monk, now and then, to indulge in monklets? To respect local customs.
