Requirements for Americans Living in China and Coming to Visit Thailand

Featured Replies

I have 2 American relatives who live in China but want to visit Thailand as tourists. Are there any special requirements still in place on the Thai side because of covid or for some other reason? I'm assuming that as Americans they won't need to get a visa in advance.

There are no restrictions for covid 19 when entering Thailand now.

They will get a visa exempt entry that allows 45 day stay when the yenter the country that can be extended for 30 days.

Thank you so much.

No longer necessary, but if they've been vaccinated, their hospital or clinic can print off a certificate for them, in English, with their passport number that shows vaccination dates, vaccine type and lot numbers.  May be useful for the return trip.

They can also get a cheap PCR test and a lovely certificate in English from their local hospital.

Both of the above may be required to board the plane in China.....

And of course, they will probably have to quarantine when they return to China.

There are no issues getting into Thailand but it’s impossible to guess what the requirements might be to get back to China.  Who knows what the length of a quarantine (and the quality of the quarantine) might be in the future. That would be my main concern.
