Yes they were pretty empty, it's why we went when we did before all of the New Years travel. Drove the car into HH yesterday to stock up and traffic was busy already at 2pm. Coming home at 5pm was even worse until we headed over the flyaway by the Holiday Inn, then traffic died down.  I think HH will be busy over this 4 day weekend. We will stay south as always and visit our many unused beaches.

Planning to ride south on the Xmax to Chumpon in a few weeks.

I just arrived HH as well coming from south, and I believe we talking about different view an average speeds, factual average speed and what you see as average. Anyway, have a good holiday and happy new year.

Average speed as indicated by my bikes computer after filling it up prior to the rude and then zeroing it out fir tge return. It is how I track the routes for travel based upon the roads. If I was just cruising then max of 75 on the highway, but then you get run over by faster moving traffic. I have always driven the speed if the cars, while passing the trucks to the right, not the left side like most bike riders do.  I ride as I was trained.

You should ride as the traffic dictates, i'm sure where you were 'trained' is not the same as here, therefore making you vulnerable.

Stay safe!

No i certainly have not and never will, awful bikes.

So you know absolutely nothing about HD bikes, yet post how 'awful' they are.

My HD never returned from Laos in the back of a pickup because parts for it were not available in this country.

I know enough never to want one.

None of my bikes have never been in the back of a pick up, strange comment.

Are HD parts available on the shelf in Thailand, not likely methinks.

You obviously have no idea of how and where I was trained Sir. I will leave you to your own views.

HD parts are readily available here in Thailand. HD's are being made in Thailand, so you know very little.

Correct, but if you think it's anything like driving here then you're sadly mistaken.

I hope you stay safe on the roads here.

Pray tell us your experiences which made your decision not to have one.

Because of what 'Others" look like, think, act ?

If you have no first hand experience then your 'opinion' carries no water.

And will remain forevermore.

HD is a lifestyle or an image of who you want to be! HD is not practical to have or buy unless you are close to a dealership with proper service and parts within hours or a few days away.

Therefor as an European and now living in Thailand, there is better options and also more economic options.

I believe many still have the Image of Easy Rider or some other biker movies in their head when choosing HD. The always being a young free spirit, and a bit outlaw on the edge.

Quite easy to tell when you see uniformed expat riders here in Thailand, living their "dream" or the image of it. At least they trying! Some come with a unhealthy group mentality, others just look mean and bad, but actually great people, just have fun and share interest riding HD, a dream they carried for their whole life.

Others see the more negative aspect of what HD have represented and still do!

Wrong.

This is YOUR understanding - not anyone else.

And I have been exactly what I wanted to be since I was 17 - not an image of what others see when they see me. Your post smacks of Intolerance, Bias, Bigotry - a big one in this instance. Walk this way, talk this way, you are this way ? Please ...

You see what you want to see - not what is really there.

Mine has never let me down. Parts are everywhere, as is service.

You see it as a lifestyle - I see it as a great bike to putt down to Singapore with, as I have done many times.

What i don't understand is why people here seem to think there is only 1 Harley.

Which Harley do they not like would make more sense.

Harley is Cruiser and Cafe riders, not many buy a Harley for sports touring or adventure riding, at least how I see the terms of it.

The road condition is generally good i agree, the people on them is the issue or are you suggesting it's safer to drive here than in the UK?

You should check your statistics before claiming it safer then UK

Road surface here is pretty good, well outside of BKK down here in the HH/Pranburi/PKK it is, only some side roads are bad from the tractors.  Roads in the US in some spots were pretty bad and you needed to drive slow due to the undulations and soft asphalt which happens during the summer heat.  Roads I rode on in the UK were pretty beat up, well back in 2011 that is.  In the north of Thailand, Udon Thani the main roads were pretty good, its the idiot drivers that you need to be concerned of everywhere in the world.  Thai folks just don't ever look before they merge lanes on there bikes.

You don't seem to know bikers much and the bikes they are set on, a Harley owner can do whatever they want it to do, knock around,  go tour or just ride it around the place like someone with a Wave if they like.

Im well aware of the road quality here in Thailand and elsewhere, also in some parts of Uk.

I was merely talking about safety and accident statistics.

The good thing about Thailand, is to get used to expect anything around the next corner coming at you whatever it is. Or anything anywhare.

So why not do what bikers do help each other out also poor people that own Harley's.

As for Ducati, hated working on them.
