Viral post: Gold shop owner in south appears with shotgun saying: "We're open for business"

It was a Facebook post reminiscent of Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry.

 

This lady was taking no prisoners, in fact you could make her day by trying to rob her!

 

A gold shop owner in Songkhla in the south of Thailand appeared in front of her jewelry with a large shotgun saying:

 

"Sawatdee kha...today we're open for business".

 

 

Daily News said this followed an attempted robbery in Muang district of Tak, NE Thailand, when a gold shop owner fired at four would-be robbers hitting and seriously injuring one. 

 

Comment was rife after the post under the name Ploykanok Kunchamnan with most comments falling into the category of gentle teasing.

 

Comments such as "In that case, we won't try and bargain the price down" abounded.

From a recent post about a person who tried to steal ganga from his neighbour and subsequently died and the BIB would not lay charges it would seem she is within her rights to protect her property.  Good for her for going public with a warning to would be thieves.  If you come here with robbery on your mind you will get a blast of this shotgun up your @rse or worse.

Nice idea, but unless she's holding it when customers come in, or there's someone out the back with it peeking out, anyone who robs the place can just tell her not to move, bonk her on the head, or go for it themselves.

It would be interesting to see who could get to it first, but not something I would want to try.  Someone with a gun of their own and nothing to lose though...

Downside is it advertises to any prospective robbers & they in turn might tweak their plans to simply execute her as a preliminary measure

At this point of our criminal evolution here, thieves are still not looking for a fight.  They just want to get their loan sharks off their backs.  We'll eventually get to first world liquor store type hold ups/shootouts, Walmart shopping cart walk outs, and home invasions though, that's surely down the road somewhere.

But if you read the OP she's in Songkhla (an 18 hour drive from the quoted robbery in Muang Tak). I think the copy is meant to infer that following publicity of the Tak debacle she's copycatting the shotgun response.
