Scott
The US government is suing Arizona's governor over the construction of a makeshift barrier made of shipping containers at the US-Mexico border. Governor Doug Ducey began building the barrier earlier this year, saying it was an attempt to "secure" the border. But in its lawsuit, the government claimed Arizona was trespassing on federal lands. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-63991451

International laws to which the US is signatory require that bona fide refugees be given a hearing and resettlement. It also requires that applicants have their cases assessed. Nobody, including Democrats, opposes deporting applicants whose cases are rejected following a hearing. Here's a link that shows Democrats not exactly opening the borders. https://www.cato.org/blog/biden-administration-has-reduced-deportations-more-trump-administration-not-much-0 1 1

Popular Post swm59nj
I’m totally against illegal immigration. It causes crime and other issues. I’m not promoting this so called makeshift barrier or whatever it is. Some people on the forums criticize the USA and President on immigration policies. Which are not perfect. But I wonder how many of these critics living in Thailand are guilty themselves. Because overstaying, not having the proper visa, not registering with immigration with proper forms as required. That is illegal immigration also. 3 1

Fentanyl comes in cars and trucks through legal crossings by citizen smugglers. 9-11 terrorists came in through airport immigration. Get a clue dude, you listening to opinions from Fox, which are all fabrications and zero "news" https://www.cato.org/blog/fentanyl-smuggled-us-citizens-us-citizens-not-asylum-seekers#:~:text=But the opposite is true, person crossing the border illegally. BTW the current Republican governor has only a short time left before he is replaced by a Democrat. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-63991451 The legal action comes three weeks before Governor Ducey's last day in office, when he will step aside for Democrat Katie Hobbs who has previously said she opposes the barrier. Ms Hobbs is yet to decide on what to do with the containers. She has said that she is exploring all options, and warned that removing the containers may be costly. The government is seeking a court order to stop the building of the barrier and to remove the shipping containers in Arizona's San Rafael Valley.

Oh I beg to differ the dems have been trying for years to get the republicans to the table to reform immigration but the republicans seem to value the theater of this mess to pander for votes now gov ducys actions are providing excellent cover and storage for the smugglers and coyotes with the added bonus of disrupting nature it’s expensive theater no more

OCTOBER 13, 2020 4:16PM New Research on Illegal Immigration and Crime In 2018, the illegal immigrant criminal conviction rate was 782 per 100,000 illegal immigrants, 535 per 100,000 legal immigrants, and 1,422 per 100,000 native‐born Americans. IMO stopping terrorists was never the motivation for the wall, but an added extra. IMO it was always about stopping people just walking into the USA without documentation. BTW Israel seems to believe their wall stops terrorists. They certainly didn't build it to stop illegal immigrants. 1 1
