10 hours left on the vote, results from screenshot just now:

But the move generated so much immediate criticism, including from past defenders of Twitter’s new billionaire owner, that Musk promised not to make any more major policy changes without an online survey of users.

And given Musk's record, we can all be confident that's a promise he will keep.

This was the new policy he introduced last night that caused the backlash. No linking from twitter to any other social platforms. He excluded Tik Tok....mmm

Common sense and SOP. For eg you can't link to other Thai forums here, never been a problem. It seems Musk has taken over being the pinata for progressives unbridled hatred causing a lack of reason in arguments.

Common sense = less free speech. More hypocrisy from Musk and his supporters.

Oh look, a fanboy.

You're common sense is lacking, twitter is not a forum, its a social media platform. This forum allows links to facebook etc. Twitter should allow links to other social networks, if not then legally they are in big trouble.

"Twitter and other social media platforms are not traditional publishers, as such publishers have civil and criminal legal liability for the things that they publish.

In other words, if Twitter decides to classify itself as a traditional publisher, it would be legally liable for every tweet that is posted on the website.

"It appears that you admit that you’re a publisher for purposes of Section 230 of Title 47 of the United States Code," Mariotti explained to Musk. "Have you thought about the consequences of the positions you’re taking, or are you just winging it?"

"Any attempt to remove my tweets that link to my other social media accounts, not violating any law, would actually make Twitter an editorial media, and no longer a social media platform, with civil and criminal liability for *any* illegal content therein," he explained.

Why do you think he apologized?

Are you paying your $8 a month for Musk's version of free speech yet and supporting your hero?

Musk is clearly winging it and not taking expert advice from anybody.

Twitter Support then specified that "we will remove accounts created solely for the purpose of promoting other social platforms and content that contains links or usernames for the following platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Truth Social, Tribel, Nostr and Post."

In response to this post, Éric Freyssinet, the deputy director of France's Cyberspace Gendarmerie Command, warned Twitter CEO Elon Musk that his company could lose protections against both civil and criminal legal liabilities if it really enforces this policy.

"Any attempt to remove my tweets that link to my other social media accounts, not violating any law, would actually make Twitter an editorial media, and no longer a social media platform, with civil and criminal liability for *any* illegal content therein," he explained.

This comment is the kind of thing that could have been said by some sitcom character. My first attempt to pin it down was Homer Simpson. It was certainly clueless enough. But the nastiness was way too over the top. Then eureka.  I realized that a perfect fit would be either Alf Garnett or Archie Bunker.

Alf Garnett , great , thanks for the compliment, much appreciated

Doxxing what doxxing? "Police say a member of Elon Musk’s security team is currently a suspect in their investigation, not a victim"

The Washington Post reporter when asking for a comment from Musk instantly got herself banned from twitter. They ran the article anyway, now the Guardian has found out a little more.

Musk's ex, the singer Grimes lives nearby where this took place. the alleged stalker had some bizarre fascination with her and claimed Musk was tracking him in real time.

Police provide first official details of Elon Musk’s alleged stalker incident

A 29-year-old man from Connecticut told the South Pasadena police Tuesday that a driver in another vehicle had confronted him in a parking lot, accused him of following him on the 110 freeway, and then struck the man with his vehicle as he was leaving the parking lot.

Last Thursday, “South Pasadena Police learned the suspect involved in this case is believed to be a member of Elon Musk’s security team,” the department said in a statement.

The Washington Post reported on Sunday that it had identified the alleged stalker, who confirmed to the Post that he was the person in the video, and that he had reported what happened to the South Pasadena police.
