Thai Rath reported with some drama that deaths from Covid were up in the period 4th to 10th December.

Also the number of lung infections and need for intubation increased markedly.

Quoting information from the Department of Disease Control website they said that hospital admissions were slightly down at 3,961.

This equated to 566 a day.

In the week there were 107 deaths that represented about 15/day.

There were 649 cases of lung infections and 385 people needed intubation.

Meanwhile "Mor Manoon" on Facebook - specialist Dr Manoon Leechawengwong - said that various Covid strains currently prevalent in India were being watched.

He reminded the public that India was the source of Delta that caused so much trouble in 2020.

ASEAN NOW notes that the WHO had started using Greek letters to destigmatize countries where Covid strains began.

Manoon was back to this habit; though he stopped short of saying "India strains", instead using technical assignations.

India is one of Thailand's most important tourist markets and was mentioned by the doctor several times.

Another strain called XBB is being watched as are several "omicron" variants.

In related news their majesties the king and queen both tested positive for Covid-19, in reports throughout Thai media.

A Royal Household bulletin said that their majesties had a mild dose and had been advised to refrain from public duties.

I'm not sure that Covid shows up on radar, though the gold chains might... :passifier:

Sorry, but if this figure does not equal or go above daily road deaths then its a bit of a non story for me

Will this "jab" also cure Delhi Belly????

Hard to fathom that these stories are still getting front page new coverage in Thailand.

Only if the empty syringe is used as a blocker.

Age, Co morbidity please for context

Nah.. you need to stick to the mild curries to achieve that.

I would like to know the official designation of this variant of COVID.

It sounds more lethal than the Omicron variant.  For Dec 19 2022 I seen a report of 6,666,232

COVID deaths, although I believe that many more people have died than one of the official

lists of COVID deaths.

I disagree.  Depends how they die, yes?  107 deaths a no story to you because you are probably not old with a preexisting condition.   What if 50 falangs die at a bar over a few days (keep it under you 15 die a day tolerance)?  Oh, non story?  Or 100 falangs die at a massage shop?  Non story?  Or 106 falangs crushed by elephants.  Or 101 falangs die from eating farang food?    Non story?

Oh, this alien from Mars only killed 14 today, no worries…….maybe 2 billion tomorrow!    Lol

Why?
Comorbidities increase risk,

old age increases risk,

lack of vaccinations increases risk,

lack of mask wearing increases risk,

being with other people increases risk,

catching COVID increases risk

Regrettably the level of intelligence has not been studied to evaluate if it increases risk, though it is very likely that the support of the orange buffoon will be shown to increase risk, due to the fact that mask deniers, vaccine deniers, fake treatment supporters, believers in fake theories of election misconduct are all over represented (or even exclusively) buffoon supporters .

Does 15 deaths a day equate to half the daily road kill?

Covid.  The gift from China that keeps on giving.

Considering Thailand has a tolerance for 50 odd Thais dying a day on the roads, 50 farangs would be like comparing an mouse to an elephant
