The Taliban government has suspended university education for all female students in Afghanistan, the latest step in its brutal clampdown on the rights and freedoms of Afghan women.

A spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Higher Education confirmed the suspension to CNN on Tuesday. A letter published by the education ministry said the decision was made in a cabinet meeting and the order will go into effect immediately.

False equivalent nonsense, there is no excuse, the only country in the world blocking education for women

  • Popular Post

I agree that it is not right but considering that under Sharia law women are not allowed out by themselves it is not a surprise.  Besides they can not get a job with their degree so what is the use.

THe American government and it's withdrawal with no deal created this and there is nothing they can do.

Not really surprised by this at all.  The Taliban have no use for educated women at all.

"Until the conflict of the 1970s, the 20th Century had seen relatively steady progression for women's rights in the country. Afghan women were first eligible to vote in 1919 - only a year after women in the UK were given voting rights, and a year before the women in the United States were allowed to vote. In the 1950s purdah (gendered separation) was abolished; in the 1960s a new constitution brought equality to many areas of life, including political participation."

Then came a coup, RU & USA/UK/NATO ...

Watch "Charlie Wilson's War" movie. In fact The US, UK and France at the time decided to put Islamic hard liners in power in Iran and Afghanistan at the same time in late 70s. To achieve their goals in long term plan.

Trump released many of these Taliban terrorist leaders from jail.

Ok... That worked well for Neville in the 30s, let's give it another go! ????

But during coups and Soviet occupation in the 1970s, through civil conflict between Mujahideen groups and government forces in the '80s and '90s, and then under Taliban rule, women in Afghanistan had their rights increasingly rolled back.

They were freedom fighters back then when they were fighting against Russia  , back when the USA funded them , only became terrorists when they tried to get the USA to leave

You said Western countries should leave other countries alone, I gave you an example of Russia invading. As for the freedom fighters:

1979 December Russia entered Afghanistan to re-establish a government closer to its desires.

The subsequent 10 year war has been described as ‘Russia’s Vietnam’, with the country sending in thousands of troops, spending millions, and ultimately retreating.

The war helped create the terrorist and extremist groups that are still in place today.

Sorry Mac but the Taliban attacked the military and government of Afghanistan, so you actually think that they are

a legal government of that country? You sure do not seem to be to up to date on the recent history of that country.

IMO.
