Daily News Thai Caption: Shotgun wedding

Police in Trang, southern Thailand, were called to the site of a wedding party in the Palian jurisdiction.

Dead at the scene with a shotgun wound to the forehead was 34 year old Sorawut Khokkhao a man known by his moniker of "Kaolao".

Daily News described some horrendous injuries and reported that there was evidence of multiple shots from a shotgun and 9 mm weapon in the road leading from the wedding party.

The shooter was 34 year old Charoen Yongstar a close friend of the deceased who fled with his girlfriend in a pick-up.

Both couples had arrived together to celebrate the wedding of a man called Khoonsap and had been celebrating since morning.

The females in the party started an argument at night that the men tried to sort out.

At one point Charoen - who has the nickname "Look Iat Phodam" - shot in the air four times.

As other wedding participants led Sorawut and his partner away they were followed by Charoen who shot repeatedly.

Daily News reported that the deceased had previously murdered another person.

Both the deceased and the assailant had recently done time for drugs offences with Sorawut released six months ago and Charoen let out a year ago.

Police are now hunting for the assailant.
