Confusing email from SCB. What does it mean?
While I understand all the frustration and irritation of folks on this thread it's important to keep three things in mind: 1. This applies only to the mobile app. 2. Many Thai people are being scammed into transferring large amounts to external bank accounts, those unknown to your bank 3. Mobile apps with or without facial recognition invite funds theft if the phone is lost or the owner being hostage. In view of this it's clear (to me) that the banks are not doing this to irritate or discriminate against non-thai folks. These are guard rails to minimize problems for the banks and their customers as the internet becomes a more dangerous playground daily. As one reply tried to say: Stop clutching your pearls over a minor inconveniece. Personally I have never had nor ever will have any app that can access my assets directly on my phone. It is simply not worth the risk to me for the minor convenience it offers. Society is paying in manifold ways from poor nutrition to environmental damage to risky banking all for the sake of 'convenience'. As if saving scant minutes here or there will grace them with the time to finally conquer the universe as they planned. Nobody puts their seat belt or helmet on on just before they have an accident. Putting it on as soon as you enter the car is tolerable to you or it's not. -

If that was true then other Thai banks would also not be able to implement it, though several Thai banks have it for foreigners. -

Transport Pink Line Sees 68% Drop in Ridership on First Day of Paid Service
It sounds like the end of free rides was just on the section at the one end of the line ending in Nonthaburi... My wife too had been paying for regular rides on the other section of the line toward the Lad Phrao area... no freebies there lately. -

Today, Urin test. Strange.
I had a long life working and touring the world doing what I was best at. Diet/nutrition and health was part of it. BTW my mom was a nurse If I listed everything I have done in life, nobody here would believe me. Need 3 lives for that, and I'm not 60 yet 😉 -

NZer requesting advice on approach to Non-O visa with wife under 50
Hi @Liquorice thank you for your detailed reply. Yes we have both visited Thailand previously and our plan is to live in Bangkok for the first year. So I'm clear on my path to a Non-O visa for Retirement in Thailand. However I'm not clear on the correct approach for my wife. Having her apply for the Non-O (Spouse/Family) in NZ will seemingly not work because I will not yet be residing in Thailand (to your point). I've been advised by a visa agency that my wife cannot arrive in Thailand on a visa exemption and then apply for a Non-O (Spouse/Family) visa that is dependent on my Non-O (Retirement) visa. They suggested that she first apply for an ED visa which is issued for 3 months, then needs to be extended for 1 year, after which she could apply for a Non-O (Spouse/Family) visa that is dependent on my visa. I'm not sure if this is a ploy to earn additional fees from the ED visa. I had a separate visa agency advise for both myself and my wife to apply for the Non-O in NZ. So I'm confused!
