Thai Rath had a couple of updated reports last night after fire broke out at a trash dump in Kai Kham sub-district of Amnat Charoen.

Witnesses reported seeing a black cloud over a 2-3 kilometer area after the fire started around 7.00 pm.

Flames four to five meters high could be seen over a wide area.

At 10 pm the deputy governor reported at the scene that the fire had been contained but was not out.

It was in a difficult to access area at the tip of the dump and a backhoe was needed to carve a way through the trash for firemen to access the source of the blaze.

He expected that to have been accomplished by midnight.
