KRABI, Jan 18 (TNA) – National park officials have searched for an injured whale shark after it was spotted with rope, wrapping around its tail by a tourist boat operator in the Than Bok Khorani national park.

A six-metre long whale shark was seen off Koh Hong Island. When it appeared underneath a long-tail boat, the boat driver saw a large piece of rope, wrapping around its tail and cutting deep into its flesh. The whale shark swam near the boat around ten minutes before it disappeared.

The boat driver believes the whale shark approached his boat as it needed help, so he contacted national park officials to look for it around Hong Island and in Phang Nga Bay but to no avail.
