webfact
Picture: Siam Rath Siam Rath reported that a 76 year old grandmother called Thongphoon in Nong Yat sub-district was savaged by four Pit Bull dogs. Her ear was almost ripped off in the attack. She was on her way to see relatives in the Nong Yat community when she passed a house with the front gate ajar. Witness Yuthaya, 54, said he heard screams and saw the lady on the ground desperately trying to get free. Using a stick he managed to chase the dogs off then the owner of the Pit Bulls helped get the lady to Nakhon Phanom hospital where she is still recovering following Tuesday's attack. She needed 20 stitches to her ear. Picture: Siam Rath Neighbors have CCTV evidence that they have given to police to prosecute the case. They want the dogs moved out of the estate fearing it is only a matter of time before they strike again. The owner has promised to pay full compensation to the victim. Popular Post JonnyF
Have they just used a random photo here? Because this dog doesn't even remotely resemble a PitBull. Looks like your average manky Thai soi dog. Here's my Pitbull (a Red Nose American PitBull Terrier) for comparison. And yes, he's great with people. ???? 8 1
Purdey
It seems frequent that pitbulls savage people. They may not be the only dogs that attack people but maybe keeping them locked in the house or garden is the only way 1

Popular Post spidermike007
Put the beast down. All dogs should have one chance. If they savagely attack a human even once, put them down, immediately. Within a day. We should not be made to suffer at the paws and foul mouths of vicious beasts. And penalize the owner in a way that sends a strong message. If you cannot control your beast, you will pay an enormous price for this transgression. Popular Post advancebooking
I hate this breed of dog. We recently stayed at a dog friendly hotel and a guy had one by the pool and then took it to the restaurant. We changed tables when they sat next to us. Banning their breeding to extinction is the only way !!!... Some will of course argue that why should humans interfere with and ‘influence’ their evolution but forget it is humans that brought about much of their evolution in the first place. As far as keeping guard dogs... Its one thing having well trained guard dogs to protect your property, and there are well known breeds for this... these dogs do not ‘escape’ the properly grounds and attack randomly... For such uses (guard dogs) the owners of breeds considered dangers and powerful should be licensed by people who can prove they know how to train and look after such animals. (yeah... I know, unlikely to happen in Thailand).... BUT... why is this such a repeated issue in Thailand, yet so rare in countries of a similar size (the UK) that is also a massive nation of dog lovers ???...... The answer of course is licensing, bans on dangers breeds and enforced accountability and responsibility. 8

Popular Post Sydebolle
If I or anyone I care for would get attacked, I would take the case through all the courts and once I've won the case, the money would go for some charitable cause. Then the dog would be served its last supper - my treat! It is not the dog's fault but why should my loved ones suffer just because the dog's owner is a p1rck? It's time to start doing the jobs the lovely authorities and forces in this land strictly refuse or are simply too stupid/too corrupt to do!
Popular Post swm59nj
I like dogs. Not necessarily pit bulls though. I personally would not own one. But dogs that viciously attack a person need to be destroyed. Such as in this case. Where the dogs are in a pack following each other’s behavior. The owner will pay compensation. But unfortunately that will not take away the mental and physical anguish the victim will have. I commend the man that came to her aid and got her to the hospital. If he wasn’t there, this woman might not be alive today. Edited January 19, 2023 by swm59nj 3 1 2

Popular Post richard_smith237
I know this wouldn’t happen... but this idea places into perspective the true realities of owning a dog. Dog owners put up to 1 million baht in some form of Escrow. IF the dog attacks someone, that escrow money goes straight to the victim. How many people would be confident to put 1m aside when owning a Pitbull ??? 1 1

Popular Post worgeordie
The house along the road has 8 dogs from small ones to boxers, last Friday ,two of the male boxers were fighting and the gardener of the property tried to separate them and one of them bit his little finger off , so Friday the 13 th was unlucky for him.. There was no one else around so i had to take him to the hospital , Friday evening traffic very busy , first hospital could not do anything no surgeons there ,they just cleaned it and bandaged it up and sent us to main hospital ,they kept him in there till monday before sewing his stump up, why any household needs 8 dogs is beyond me. regards Worgeordie

To be honest, your dog looks loverly and I’m sure she/he is very well trained and beautifully natured because of the care and training you provide.... BUT... the issue is that these dogs need care and to be trained by someone knowledgable, attentive and who has the time and inclination to look after them properly. herein exists the primary issue... When the underlying instinct of an animal needs to be trained ‘out of it’ then there is great concern for those animals which are not in the ideal environment. 1 2

When the underlying instinct of an animal needs to be trained ‘out of it’ then there is great concern for those animals which are not in the ideal environment. I have always said the problem is with the owners, not the breed. You don't need to train human aggression out of them. They were bred to be non aggressive to humans. You do have to socialize them with other dogs, like many breeds. We know nothing about these dogs in question. From the photo, they are not even PitBulls but this thread wouldn't have any posts unless PitBull was in the title. We know nothing about how they were raised or kept. Whether they were hit daily by the owner, kept in cages, not fed etc.
