Kantaphat had seven stab wounds to his arms and back and was taken to hospital. A 15 cm knife that had come out of its handle was taken into evidence at the scene. Dit, a noodle seller, said he saw two men run across the road before one of the men fled on a motorcycle. The victim put up no fight whatsoever. He said the men had left their bikes lying in the road and he thought it was just an everyday fight, not a stabbing. He had no idea what it was about, reported Thai Rath. At the ER reporters met friends of the victim and his mother as they examined a jacket with stains worn by her son. She said he was a lovely boy with lots of friends who never caused anyone any trouble. But she said that he is cross-eyed (a condition known formally as stabismus). People who know him often think he is looking directly at them when he is not. She thinks this may be the reason he was attacked for "looking at someone". This is over the top, she said, and demanded that the police find the attacker and prosecute him to the full extent of the law.
