A school of no importance.

Yup. They had to pick some school to throw under the bus, to show that they're doing something. Certainly not a certain, famous name group of private schools I once worked for, that does stuff to make this look like nothing. The kicker is that they're religiously affiliated. WWJD?

He's just one of thousands of corrupt Thai's making cash from contracts, workers, jobs, supplies,  servants, and who knows what else ....

It's in their DNA .......  and everytime they are caught it's denial ......   hey'  that's a river in Eygpt buddy.

Thailand or Lieland ...    haha

The story looks like the police left the money on the table not the vendor.

"They had arranged for a brown envelope stuffed with the cash."

Is it a sting or entrapment?

If they used the contractors cash it could be deemed to be evidence and held by the Police/Prosecutor until released by the Court which might take a good while.

Look at all that ugly  new money.  Glad they caught this.  About 20 more and maybe directors will not take the risks.   What will be his prison term?  Should be 5 years vand 3000 sets of parents should ostracize this guy's family.

5 years and 5000 situps

Literally everybody who’s anybody in this country is on the take. It is such a deeply corrupt country, and I don’t just mean that everyone’s on the take, but also morally corrupt, just one big mess of greedy b@stards who don’t give a flying **** who they have to screw over to rake in even more money. It really is quite sickening, and there is zero chance of this stopping any time soon, the whole system is just rotten to the core.

But it could be worse. My daughters attended a school in Pitsanulok where the principal's sister had the sole right to sell snacks during breaks and after school. Small children happily lined up with a few baht to buy some sweets. However, no change was given. They were told to walk away and shut up. How rotten do you have to be to steal money from little kids. sick sick sick

Corruption is not a Thai invention…. The whole globe is in it.

Belgian police arrested Greek socialist MEP Eva Kaili, one of the vice-presidents of the European  parliament

And many more highranking politicians are spending some quality time together in the monkeyhouse.

But its not 28 baht , that's what the supplier is paid , out of that he has to pay kickback ,

so getting 3 meals out of what's left and still make a profit , it will be "please sir can I have some more "

regards worgeordie

.but for sure there is no room for people to get paid off in that kind of budget...

So you are okay with a school director stealing lunch money from the kids in is school? Of course palm greasing is nothing new, but in Thailand it seems to have become a sport to see who can sink the lowest and think of the most disgusting ways to steal money from people, even if they’re just little kids.
And this has nothing to do with jealousy on my part, just anger and outrage that people can stoop so low. I just can’t stand it when someone in a position of power abuses that power to steal money, just makes my blood boil.

You have no proof to these assertions. Don't get all worked up. All I can say is : AS IF.

Another favorite scam is when hiring  busses for school trips. The bus owners like to get paid in cash so there is no paper trail they can be taxed on. The organiser gets 15000 pays the bus owner 10000. They got me once on a two day English camp teaching deal. They had me sign a paper in Thai saying I was paid. I can read enough Thai to know what the document was but not enough to brace them on it. Schools have to be one of the highest sources of corruption.

The punishment should be that he eats rotten fish head with old rice for the next 3 years during the job.

Maybe the punishment should be meted out according to the severity of the 'crime' according to Thai law. eh??

Why you put the word crime in quotation marks is not clear to me. What this school director did was obviously a crime, and a pretty revolting one at that. I think the poster you quoted just wanted to express that sentiment.

And we all know that the Thai law is often sketchy at best, because it mostly depends on how much the accused is willing or able to pay to make their problem go away.

At least they are caught and thrown into jail...america corrupt politians work freely.

Maybe he only got 'caught' because he wasn't willing to divest some of the ill gotten booty in the form of a brown envelope to someone else higher up. I doubt this sort of thing is done in isolation.
