Report Thai PM Orders Standardised Smoking Areas at Airports for Travellers
Thanks, exactly what I thought. If the smoke extraction system fails, then these rooms are potential gas chambers! Being a non-smoker I shall give them a wide berth. -

You said you found it "difficult to find anywhere that would take cash". Now, it's on London Buses. -

Accident British Pensioner Crashes Through Wall, Child Narrowly Escapes
Rebarb would have stopped the car sooner with much more damage to it. The upper part resting on the blocks is probably reinforced . Hard to see in the video , but looks like the car drove under it. -

Australian Aged Pension
When he proposed changes are passed into law, if you are outside of Australia for 183 day, you will be deemed a non resident for tax purposed. That's the "bright line" test. If you are inside Australia between 45 days and 183 days, you have to meet two out of four factor tests. The pension is deemed to be an income. Non resident tax is 30% from $0 to $135,000. There are no exemptions in the proposed changes. There are no changes to the non resident tax brackets in the proposed changes. Eg. the introduction of a tax free threshold to cover pensioners. There is no means testing in the proposed changes. The Australia / Thailand DTA does not cover the aged pension, it covers "service pensions." So, Henny Penny, what of the above do you disagree with? It's all in writing, and from the Australian Government, and not from India. -

Revenue Department to amend tax on foreign income remittance
Did you get a tax clearance certificate or just a receipt showing you filed and paid taxes. I haven't read about any foreigners being stopped from leaving the country. I assume the old law requiring a tax clearance certificate was for those who actually worked in Thailand, and not really for foreigners who just remitted money from overseas.
