Chiang Khong border run

Featured Replies

I will be doing the border run here. I currently have an education visa that is expiring soon. I haven't left Thailand for a few years now.

My new school told me to get a visa exempt stamp by doing a border run. They advised me to stay the night in Loas before returning.

Is this really necessary or can I go in and out on the same day like it used to be at the Mae Sai border.

Yes you can return the same day, just be sure to let the IO know you want to return “today”. I think it’s about 1800฿. The IO will take your passport and then you wait for him to prepare it , then he’ll escort you through the border then you can proceed to return and on the next bus to chiang khan
