Toy Elephant Charity Auction for Phuket’s ‘Seeds of Change’

Phuket-GO, in association with the ‘Tim Newton Today‘ YouTube channel and Living Waters Phuket, are raising money for the Seeds of Change charity situated on Koh Sirae, Phuket.

 

There are only 37 items in total for online auction so don’t miss out!

 

For many years news presenter Tim Newton became ‘infamous’ for his brightly coloured Hawaiian/Songkran shirts. Now he’s donated them to Seeds of Change where his old shirts have been transformed into toy baby elephants, in a range of sizes.

Each successful bid will receive a signed photograph with YOUR toy elephant as a momento.

 

So what’s Seeds of Change all about?

 

Seeds of Change is a charity project, founded in 2013 by SO ‘n SO Gals Phuket. Using upcycled, donated or repurposed fabrics we started out by teaching pregnant women (migrant workers) how to sew simple items for themselves and their soon-to-be-born babies.

 

Over the years, we progressed to running sewing and crafts classes for students of the St. Euphrasia BanYa Literacy Center. In 2022, we formed a 10- week vocational training program to certify students on the basics of sewing which has proved very successful.

 

Products made by us are now sold at various locations around Phuket and we regularly get orders from abroad. Current Eco Chic products include fabric elephants and dogs, beaded necklaces for masks, handbags, cosmetic bags, totes and so much more.

 

Tim Newton donated all his crazy shirts – they were all originally donated by viewers or paid for by Tim – and they’ve now been repurposed as individual art pieces in the form of small, medium and large toy elephants. There’s also a ‘travel pack’ and an XL elephant standing about 50cm high and including fabric from ALL of Tim’s shirts.

 

We are now auctioning off these toy elephants where ALL the monies donated will go straight to Seeds of Change. Depending on where you live, there will be additional postage charges (which we will advise you of before we send the items).

 

To bid for an item, simply email us your bid to [email protected]

 

Include the number of the elephant you’d like to bid for and the amount you are willing to offer. After two weeks we will collate all the bids and announce the winners. You’ll then be invited to make you payment direct to the Seeds of Change charity. When received, we’ll post out your very own Seeds of Change toy elephant.
